I was thinking the exact same thing. Putting some heat on the QB used to be an important part of the game. Making guys nervous, making them throw the ball too early, or tuck it down cause they were worried about losing it. It added up over the course of the game.

At the end, When JJ asked Peyton if he was alright, that pretty much shows you exactly the type of person/man that Watt is. Im sure he would bever expect for manning to say "you got me good on that last one" and he may have thought he meant he was injured on the play. You could tell when Watt asked if he was alright that he was genuinely concerned about him. Although he wanted to win the game as bad as anyone and wanted to destroy the other team, it is still just a game of football. And Watt already had my full respect but that interaction proved why

Watt was a monster. Trai Turner was the only guy I can remember who figured out somewhat how to use Watt's technique against him. he pivoted when JJ dipped and pushed him down. He also punched right below the armpits when JJ went up to swat a pass. It worked because JJ didn't have a single sack that game. That was the best strategy I've seen to deal with him in his prime

@0:52 shout-out to Marcedes Lewis. That is a modern age blocking tight end who really BLOCKED. Still in the NFL for that reason, modern schemes just ask the tight end to tap a line backer for a second and like George Kittle is a beast at that. But guys like Marcedes Lewis, you can ask him to tap a beast like JJ Watt or just ROADGRADE a linebacker

He was... too bad rule changes essentially forced him into retirement much like they did too klay matthees because much like klay matthews he was getting called for roughing the passer like stupid even on clean hits because you habe to "hit and release" a qb (basically two hand touch) and csnt lean into a hit on a qb anymore which is why you seeing less anf less qb fumbles on hits

Now we can barely press the QB without some Flag thrown .. and I gotta agree with Brady on all these flags .. you’re making the game build bad habits for these athletes that are coming up, they don’t need to think about the guy that will hit them or the dangerous guy that could get you out of the game WITH A CLEAN HIT, I mean .. all these possibilities that would happen back in 2011 and those days .. let the game way more smart, need to study way more, think other plays to get out of one player or two, think ways to protect your receivers and sometimes make spectacular throw or run on that player and let em perplex .. stunning

I miss my football days now . I remember getting my 1st pick 6 as a Sam linebacker and I instantly recognized the screen formation so as soon that ball was in the air being snapped . I charged at the guy that was supposed to block me and rammed tf outta him . As soon as he fell back on his ass . I looked straight back to the QB and the ball was heading straight to my chest . I just caught it and ran it back untouched .
