Madras (Chennai) 1984 - Small Group Discussion 2 - Understanding death
Summary:
Is there a movement totally different from the movement of time and thought?
The mind is something totally unrelated to the conditioning of the brain. It is something not measurable by words or thought.
The self is the product of time.
As long as my brain is conditioned, it becomes very limited. The brain has an infinite capacity and that capacity is being denied by its own limitation.
My father and mother met, I am born; at the end of my life, I die. Is this causation and the end of causation what you call death?
You have explained and described death but have you understood the quality of dying?
I do not want to be reincarnated next life. What is important is to incarnate now, which means to die to all the things I have known.
We must experience what it means to die, while living.
Note: One participant speaks in Hindi and is translated.

This channel is managed by the Krishnamurti Foundation Trust, UK, and by the Krishnamurti Foundation of America.
The role of the foundations was described by Krishnamurti when he said, 'The foundations will see to it that these teachings are kept whole, are not distorted, are not made corrupt. They will not give rise to any sectarian spirit in their activities... nor create any kind of place of worship around the teachings or the person.'
We maintain extensive archives of Krishnamurti's original works and all four Krishnamurti foundations are actively engaged in the publication of material in various forms.
Our videos contain thousands of subtitles in more than 25 languages, translated by volunteers from all over the world. If you would like to help us with translating subtitles, please contact us at digital@kfoundation.org

This is exactly the difference between a seeker or enlightened being with a pundit. A pundit is just intellectual knowledge with very cold heart. The real seeker has a vibrant and alive heart.

When Becoming and being ends ....the perception of pure consciousness , new brain , new look , new eyes which is an experience one can not imagine because the actual experience and augmented imagination ( present world augmented reality in computers) are totally separated . My personal thought about the reason why they kept bringing the concept of time in this discussion is they think the death caused by time which is suffering or fear for them. That's why K. said time is holding. You can't understand if you are holding it.

At about 38:00, they talk about "attention." And attention is, as "I" understand it, is a volitional act, which may ovr may not result secondarily in the "state" of AWARENESS. Awareness is itself the "pure". Which means that any sense of "self", the brain which detects the 5 classical senses, the activity of the 5 classical senses themselves, and the so called object being seen, heard, felt, smelled, or tasted....ALL of those "factors" collapse (if you will...) into a singularity by which "There is then nothing more than this" ("Oh, Shariputra,"). That is the pure of so-called "shikantaza" or actual real AWARENESS its very self. And so by volitionally choosing to "be in attention", one runs the risk of throwing away decades of one's life in projetions of the mind, or their entire life, doing that....or they stumble into the natural state of awareness itself, recognize it for what it is, know the difference between natural mind and memory based thinking, and bcz of that recogmition it permanently alters the way that being interacts w reality vis-a-vis the psychospiritual aspect of their being and has far reaching consequences for the physical body, of course, as the body/brain is the organism, the entirety of which is so effected...😮

The Scientist is emphasising for Krishnaji's compassion but Krishna ji won't budge... My Guess is he doesn't budge for a simple reason What Pandit ji is talking is mere knowledge/'arguments' out of scripture 1:22:24 and not Living Implementation of what he speaks that ticks KRISHNAJI off that's why he didn't budge ( to be "compssionate")...

About 1:15 onwards, here one sees that K has achieved the near impossible by, at some point in his earlier yrs, waking up into being an actual REAL HUMAN. And these ppl he is dialoguing w are simply unable to deal w it psychologically. They have spent their entire lives "driving" around in their heads, apprehending everything through thinking, thought, ideas, philosophies, beliefs, etc. The totality of everything intellectual for these ppl, whatever all of that had entailed for them. And that's all they understand as a consequence of all that. And K is saying, "Wait a minute...where is the actual experience, the actual meaning, the actual value, the actual HEART (you know, "Where's the beef?") of any of our existence as we go about w a bunch of jibber jabber?" And that jibber jabber is coming from a frightened, tiny, little ego-self trying to justify its own existence. Right? And when death comes knocking at anyone's door-it's too late to have second thoughts about experiencing life rather than non-stop choosing to totally live all of life it inside one's own head....being stuck in all of that. And let's face facts. Everyone thinks that their own stuff, which they have embraced thru their own culture and upbringing, etc., is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Most think that they are the greatest ppl of all and that their stuff is the ony thing that is true, etc. An exclusive truth, as the LDS church has said and so on. And everyone holds onto that for themselves and they push everything else away which might not rhyme w their said stuff whilst pushing their stuff onto others simultaneously w it. But being brought up w a particular belief or ideology us NOT THE PROOF of its being THE TRUTH...is it? And so, when does humankind get unstintingly honest and embrace reality, as actual, not as belief...atheist, Hindu, Christian, or anti this or anti that...but just as being an actual REAL HUMAN. I say that it cannot happen and it will not happen to the great vast majority of ppl alive now nor in the future yet to be born. It has never happened in 300K yrs over any entire group and there is no evidence to support that it ever will happen. Why? Bcz ppl care, but they just don't care ENOUGH. Bottom line...😮 Here, I say that a real human is anyone who feels and interacts w reality deeply and at all levels of their being and is not controlling w a knee-jerk reaction all of the time everything gping on aroud them out of their inner fear nor choosing selectivy about their willingness, or lack of it, to consider in the field of experience as to what is valid or invalid. Someone who never stops learning and experiencing authentically. Someone who knows what love is, and not just as an idea, but like gravity, they feel it and it simply is what it is. And someone who lives a full life every second of it, as precious, and would not think to rob that of another. And most of all...someone w a mind of their own for G's sake, for a change...😮

See, when there is concern about "being" then there is still "self" involved. And ALL thinking and thought is an activity of fear in any case. But if "self has been dealt w, one simply doesn't concern oneself w "being" or "not being". One has gone beyond all of that delusion and is non-stop engaging in "whatever is right alongside and as a part of the continuous flow of life in the "eternal ever-unfolding now". The fear as control or need to understand is simply non-existent. And one doesn't say to "oneself", "I will stop resisting, fearing, controlling, bcz the activity of saying that is still ITSELF the activity of fear and control. There is simply the absence of all of that. And one cannot conceptualize reality w some phoney analogue regarding absolute truth of "things simply being as they are." The activity of fear (thought says "I". So thought is first and last causation for fear) is itself the blockage to total surrender. And this is why no one can surrender authentically w/o looking at (experiencing directly one's visceral bodily reactions as adrenaline, impulses, etc, and involuntary arising thoughts, etc, and deliberate/volitional thoughts, and so on) one's own inner life. And in that LOOKING, all of the blockages are dissolved. Then as a secondary result one has moved into authentic surrender, which is humilty, which is the absence of fear and the absence of the desire/need to control through intellectualizing. Not phoney surrender where one just repeats to oneself over and over again, "I will surrender", w a fully intact ego, which is the fear expressed as thought itself. And these ppl have not done that work, bcz they are STILL QUIBBLING over "being" and "becoming."....😮

At about 25 to 27:00....again, justifying and defining a thing intellectually (for or against any perceived position that K is taking...and he is not describing a position) is NOT the very thing itself. And bcz we do not engage the act of LOOKING, we never encounter the very thing itself. We WANT the inconceivable to suit w and match our own individual egotistical intellectual reasoning. And that reasoning itself IS THE FEAR...is the blockage. What part about that do these Hindus and Buddhists not understand?....😮...and so the thing they refuse to do is itself the very thing which they need to see. These ppl are like the drowning man or woman in the middle of a lake or river who will not allow the lifeguard to get behind them to help pull them out. They just keep on w their spitting, clawing, and grabbing....😮
