Atlas is an ad for Netflix. Like Red Notice and Damsel. It's an algorithm designed to pull in subscribers to their service. The script is AI written, they pay big name actors whatever they need to and use cheap cgi to get it done. That's why the ideas and cinematography are generic and uninspired. It's just so Netflix can bait potential subscribers, it's not actually for anyone to watch.

As a professional dancer, I found the choregraphies hystericals & the dancing in the rain was so bad, Gene Kelly would have 🤮. . The doc was embarrassing, she can't listen to good advice cse she has a delusional grandiosity about her talents. Nobody would care if she wasn't walking around like she is a great artist, trashing other very good actressses.

I'm more of a hard science fiction fan and an IT professional. So I'm a serous technical nitpicker. 1) JLO and the screenwriters really don't seem to have a clue about how AI works or could potentially work. So many of her lines and exposition were cringe AF. 2) The fact that they just casually say that they are going to go fight the bad guy on a planet in the Andromeda Galaxy. That is 2.5 million light years away from our galaxy! When we look at the Andromeda Galaxy we see what it looked like 2.5 million years ago. Yet this society doesn't appear to be more than maybe 100 years from now. By comparison, even in the Star Trek franchise (which isn't hard sci-fi I know) that occurs between 150 - 1,000 years from now they still haven't left this galaxy. Yet Atlas and her cronies act as though going to Andromeda Galaxy is like they are running down the street to get a slurpee at 7-11 and a pack of cigarettes. After this last little tidbit I just flipped my brain to the off position and proceeded to laugh hysterically.

Their representation of a foreign space vista was laughable. When you have watched great Sci Fi like the Expanse, I am watching this CGI Bullshit and I can tell people who know nothing about Space made the CGI. When they arrive at the planet, like 2 or 3 other planets and an astrroid belt are all in the same shot. I'm thinking you didn't even have to come here for this dude. If he stayed there any longer, he would have died in the planetary collision that was clearly about to happen.

Atlas seems like made very very simple in early draft before adjusting it to be more believable. Unlike, for example: Cameron's Avatar, that early scripts was made far more complex before simplified to audience.

Like a big EMP may be? lol! - The amazing MECH tech that JLo need to actually make MOVES (Move legs and arms) inside the Mech to actually move it?, so she gets even tired and sweating because of the physical effort ? lol! - A.I it's totally in SYNC with JLo, but she still need to do swipes to the UI and TALK to the A.I to do things? so advanced lol! - A.I. first and worst terrorist in the Universe, can makes a lot of clones of the "Cosko"? terrorist, but it CAN'T do millions of clones of himself and spread it around many galaxies. So advanced, no no!, I must be only ONE! LOL!. Same stupid plot than "THE CREATOR" movie, the stupid kid that CAN'T BE CLONED by millions. They didn't learned from THE MATRIX virus? Did you seriously just make a 50-year-old man sound like the guy from the Pepperidge Farm commercials in your scenario? How old and out of touch do you think 50 is? Dude, Ryan Reynolds is almost 50. Hugh Jackman is 55. Keanu Reeves is almost 60.

I'm glad you said this. Not 50 yet myself, but I laugh when I realize that whole "wet behind the ears" saying comes from how notable it is to witness a young guy like this, talk with this "entitled youth" zeal, (as if it isn't gone in the blink of an eye). Next week a teenager will be talking about how old he is... The movie is quite bad, (no Jupiter Ascending to be sure), but the way this guy starts the review by saying "Bots are what we call normies", made me laugh, because to me, when I hear ANYONE use pop culture speak as a standard to prove their relevance, shows them straining to be important somehow. This shows how far down the path of a loss of creativity, including movies, daily language, and young peoples personalities, we have traveled... Next stop for this guy is looking for something to bring meaning to his life ,besides KZfaqr who is temporarily not 50 years old. Goes by quick boy, no pressure 😅 thumbs down for this guy.

Guess the ear-piece isn't defibrillating her in an actual sense but makes her still living brain sending out nerve impulses to cause repeated violent contractions of her muscles including the heart and diaphragm which has essencially the same effect as an external defibrillator which also causes such contractions. I don't know whether something like this would be possible, but in zerms of movie logic and regards to suspension of disbelief this makes much more sense than an ear-piece making her breath in space somehow as if it could conjure not oxygen but breathable air and materialize/dematerialize it in the lungs in short order. The "defibrillation scene" is actually a good idea within the premises - in contrast to most of the other stuff.

Someone else made the point there is a certain dirty satisfaction in watching unintelligent, non-science fiction people make a science fiction movie, if only to see all the bizarre assumptions and inaccuracies. If a society can casually travel to the Andromeda galaxy in little time (presumably by folding space), it definitely would not be concerned about a 28yr old robot, regardless of how sophisticated it was in the past. It would have been outdated and bested one year later, and wholly irrelevant after about four years.

Okay I think the thing with the missle is just poorly edited. I believe what was supposed to be happening is she fires the missle as she's running and so she runs past the explosion/cliff just after we see the explosion happen, but they didn't show that on screen. So when the cliff falls she's already past where the missle hit and is struck by the falling rocks. It seems to be missing a transition shot that would have helped make it more clear what was happening. However, this just raises the question of why would she, or really anyone, ever do that? I didn't watch the movie so is it possible that she was trying to crush some behind her, or maybe trying block off the path of the enemies chasing her? It doesn't look like it so I don't think it makes sense either way but I tried.

Not sure what's the issue with the term "bot" though. We are probably coming from different generations, but back in my time when there was no twitter and facebook to "bot" on, we used to play things like Half-Life and Counter Strike and every now and then we had AI driven companions - bots. So the term is okay and legit.

You unfortunately missed. what I. like about sci-fi movies. Many of the good ones. Star Wars is an example are extremely Corny. And simple minded. But the thing that made Star Wars spectacular. was seeing on screen the reality. of great special effects that brought the universe to life. and I have to admit that this movie had great sci-fi. special effects. for that reason, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

I believe streaming services stopped aiming to make good content... Stuff that's objectively appealing to a large portion of their respective audiences. It's all about quantity of content. Netflix doesn't (or maybe they do) know that people are simply playing Netflix as background music. Like AM/FM stations. shareholder meetings do not touch on quality of content. The only important metrics are viewership. How many people played the movie.

The most painful part is not cringing so hard that you pull a muscle watching JLo pretending to act. And what's a shame is if love to have more piloted mech movies, but because this worthless celebrity was put into this utter dog shit movie, studios are going to make the assumption that people don't want to watch mech movies, as opposed to realizing they want to see good mech movies with a good script.

Is not bad acting, but is not great neither ..the problem is that her crazy fans will start demanding a nomination to the Oscars and if she dont get it ( she will not ) they will say she got snubbed because people are jealous of her beauty

I would rather go back, about FIFTY FIVE years, to a well written PRE A.I. film: ' Colossus, The Forbin Project ' If you can find it, check it out.

This was a live action Titan Fall movie with good actors (not JLo) suffering from terrible writing.

Its funny you say this is made for 50 year old dads with brain rot because, turns out, thats exactly who ot was made by. The executive producer (and one of the writers) is Aaron E Coliete, 49, who also worked on notable Netflix flops like Locke and Key, the Spiderwick Chronicles, the movie Mortal, and only a couple more credits.
