The hardship waiver process is fundamentally broken now, waiting more than 2 years to waive a 2-year requirement defeats the purpose of the waiver. Sad

It is very disappointing that the government is taking a long time to adjudicate hardship waiver cases and it is extremely important for J1waiver candidates to plan for this lengthy processing time. We hope that processing times will return to normal in the future.

Thanks for the video! I did a short term research program last year in Philadelphia ( for 6 months ) under the research scholar status . I’m from Ecuador son the 2 year rule applied to me , I applied for a waiver with the NOL and I received my waiver last month ! My question is : I have been being giving the chance to do research at Boston for 1 year next year under the J1 visa again. Because I’m planing to enter into a pediatric residency in the USA in the future . I was wondering if I applied again for a waiver , USCIS will grant me the waiver again . How many times someone can apply for a j1 waiver ? . It would be with the NOL pathway .

Congratulations. A J1 holder in US clinical residency will generally not be eligible for a no objection waiver.
