Ranveer perfectly resembles Kapil Dev. Jeeva too is perfect as Srikkanth, especially the smoking scenes. Srikkanth was a heavy smoker and used to bat without helmets due to breathing difficulty.

there's a reason cricketers before 90s are so respected, they had to face deadly fast bowlers without proper helmet which would cause serious injuries, whereas now batsmen play with high-end helmets and protective gear. Hence the 1983 victory meant a lot to the nation

My mother was 11 years old when this match took place. She has always bragged about witnessing this match. I've heard from her stories of that day. The whole of India celebrated that day. Fireworks in every street, people had even distributed sweets to everyone and this was when players like Sachin and Sourav dreamt of being what they are today. Glad that I'll be finally able to feel even a fraction of what the entire country felt that day.

My dad used to tell stories about Kapil Dev sir and this team and how precious this moment was for their generation, he used to tell me a lot about each and every cricketer in this movie, their personality, style of play, he wanted to watch this movie but sadly i lost him last year, when i first saw this trailer i couldn't stop myself from crying, can't wait to witness this spectacle on a big screen ❤️

The one thing this will show is the India Zimbabwe Game - where BBC crew was on strike and hence no telecast. The TRANSFORMATION of the team happened there.... with Kapil's 175 not out.... after being 17 / 5 (do you see the number play that worked?)....... Looks good to watch it in a theater with friends!!

The best moment in the trailer that many missed was how the press conference hall was almost empty when India wasn't winning any matches and later Indian team with their performance compelled the Press Conference hall filled with people. So Kapil Dev actually hence proved that "Yes, told you we are here to win". Perfectly created scene.

Wow. Jabs take my word, everyone in this movie looks spot on to their counterparts, even in the way they talk they represent them. Spot on casting and choices. I hope the movie isn't too bollywood-y, but I get it its bollywood and songs are there in the movie for entertainment purposes, just hoping they don't deviate from the crux of the movie. I wasn't even born when 83 world cup held nd my father was also just 15 at that time...he tells stories about how they watched the whole tournament live on tv..he told me stories about how sir viv Richards was in full flow in the finals nd wasn't getting out nd Kapil Dev ji took that catch all that excitement...I wasn't even born at that time it's strange how I can relate to this feeling... We were watching live. We have written off ourselves when India score was less than 200. We have concluded that West Indies going to win this match, hands down in less than 40 overs. We saw Richards were hitting Left-Right-Center, we felt they dont need even 30 overs. When Kapil Dev took Vivian Richards catch, my confidence went up and my inner thoughts felt that we are going to win. That day India made history. 35 years later I visited Lords as part of tour and seen the cup and stood in the same Indian pavilion balcony to see how looked like. The feeling was great, as if I am visiting Lords back in 83. Everything was fresh. We were discussing the match for next one month in 83.

Interesting fact: Only the final of World Cup was televised in India. No other matche was televised. All on radio only. So every story or experience is available in the public through stories from the players and journalists. So this movie is sort of the first time Indians will see the matches other than the final since 1983!
