Today we dive into the near Hazmat level Jack Daniels Coy Hill. These limited edition single barrels came out of a very special rickhouse at Jack Daniels, and lets just say they came in a bit more proofy than anything else from Jack we've had.

You guys nailed it! It approaches a Hazmat Stagg Jr. single barrel but less Buffalo Trace black cherry. More dirty rickhouse funk with that umami. Very interesting.

@@topshelfdustin3060 On that note, have you guys tried the 12 year either batch? We were super turned off by Batch 1 and could not figure out all the hype via Whiskey Tube featuring it in all their Top 5’s, including all of the biggest channels we all know. @@maltreviews same fan who sent us the coy hill sent us 2 oz of the batch 1 12, so we'll be reviewing it next time we get together hopefully (if we have time...no shocker but bourbon isn't our priority) . We did try a pour from a friend before this and I can't recall if it was 1 or 2 but I would assume 1. I was a fan. I don't get the "BTAC" love some gave it, but I'm a fan. That said that was after a full day of reviews we tried it. We'll see how it goes. Either way we'll get a review up before the end of summer.

Normally I would agree with Mike, but the experience and wow factor involved... I have two bottles, 139.1 proof is the one I've tried and it's incredible, I'd give it a 91. The other bottle is Hazmat @ 140.2

I thought I wanted one of these. The markup quickly swayed me away. But even some of my other high proof stuff, I just don't reach for it often. So it would be a wasted bottle in my collection. No matter how good and flavorful, you can only do so much stuff in the 120+ proof range. I'm loving stuff that's like 95-115 proof. Only go higher on the rare occasion

The wonderful part of barrel proof is you can play with water to get it to your sweet spot.

With whiskies, 68% + , i usually finished 1/3 of bottle, then use the 2/3 to bring up other JD to 54-58 % . . . great vid.

It's not just the proof that makes CH 21 amazing - It's 9 (yes, NINE) years in the highest, hottest rickhouse on the property.

Been wondering about age, it doesn't come off super old but you could tell it had some maturity.

The 2024 JD special edition is gonna be another Coy Hill, but it doesn’t look like it’s gonna be hazmat level stuff since they’re saying these barrels are being picked from the middle of the middle of the warehouse and will be “a wide range of proofs”

@@topshelfdustin3060 agreed. Anything with the coy hill name is gonna be wild. The secondary on the 375ml distillery only version is like over $1000 and it’s only a 375ml
