I've never been a fan of Jack Johnson just because it's not really my type of music... But I remember one time back in like 2003 he was playing a show at the venue next to the coffee shop I worked at, and after the show while I was closing up shop he was hanging out talking to fans outside of his bus for like an hour. You could tell he was the most down to earth dude ever, very humble and friendly to everyone. And even though it's not necessarily my cup of tea I can say that he's an incredibly talented singer/songwriter.

I remember when I was dating my first boyfriend we were laying down and he pulled up this video. He loved how effortlessly Jack could play (as we met in guitar class and had an infinity for playing) and how much life radiated from this video. We shared our love of his music and the emotions that come with it. I can still see us there watching it over and over and the amount of joy we felt. Sadly, my first love is no longer here, but I like to come back to this video and remember his spirit of something similar to the beauty of Jack and his songs.

I used to live in Raglan, a world class surf spot, for a while. I worked at an eco resort then and one morning I went to the toilet, did my thin and when I got out, there was Jack Johnson standing in front of me. I felt like he was someone I once met but I could not figure it out. Later that day I went surfing and when I got back, the word got around that Jack Johnson was staying there. I met him again later that day and we chatted a little bit. Most down to earth, normal surfer and family man. He was touring a brought his whole family with him. What a legend. The next day we met again in front of the toilet. I consider that detail relevant.

@@jaxripper251 he is huge in enviromentalism and has a lot of charities and foundations that work towards that. his time in the spotlight might be over for music but his legacy is far more than just his guitar

He reminds me of my cousin. A down-to-earth nice guy, loves the environment, he goes where he wants, whenever he wants together with his trusted bike, skateboard, or motorcycle (sometimes he goes with his buddies as well). When he wants to take some time off, he to go to the beach. He loves music as well and he's part of a band in my local community. The best part of him is that he never gives up. Back in the day he used to stay up late and play video games, neglects his education, and becomes an addict in his teenage years. Time passes by, he changed, and now me and my cousin are graduating together this year even though he's 4 years older than me.

This is the perfect way to listen to Kack Johnson. Doing something else, enjoying life and building memories that will forever be connected with his songs. When I was young my family would play his music in the car every year on holiday in Italy and those memories are deeply intertwined with his songs! Even now, 10 years later, I can feel the sun on my skin and the warm breeze in my hair as I would lean out of the window if I put on one of his old classics! If I close my eyes I see the olive trees on the hillsides and the ocean in the distance and hear the chirping of crickets and the Sound of the sea.

It's wild that those kids are probably all grown up now... They're probably around my age. It's insane to me how quickly that time went by. I remember watching the Curious George film in theaters at four years old, and now I'm an adult remembering. In another sixteen years I might even find this video again and I'll think think the same thing.
