It’s so funny, I think of myself as a composer and I’m always recording voice memos of ideas but it never occurred to me to apply this to licks! I’m always trying to memorize licks verbatim and I get frustrated because I’m so forgetful when it comes to other people’s material. I think this is a really profound lesson you gave here on developing your own vocabulary and style.
