Interesting lessons with good background info. You really have a lot of key click in your playing. Time for a new keyboard?

Thank you! Could doing slides on a keyboard like the Casio CTK 3400 harm the keys?
@UniverseofKeys6 күн бұрын
Slides don’t need to be aggressive so just don’t hit it too hard ;). Hammonds are extremely tough 👊

@@UniverseofKeys i don't have a Hammond, I have a Casio ctk 3400, but still I'm not gonna do agressive slides. I've tried your recommendations and it sounded good

I agree with you about the Leslie "pop" that occurs at speed changes. My 760, as you know, is a solid state unit, but the Combo-2 preamp has that signature pop, and it drives me nuts! I think there's an alternative switch available that is totally silent, which would be a Godsend! Great video, as usual! 🎹🎹🎹🎹🔕

Nice tip, but these days you have a sampled piano sound on just about every fake hammond, or you can even add a midi to a real one. Plus, there's really no need to have a "piano" in your hammond to be able to play boogie woogie, as boogie woogie has been commonly played on hammonds since the 1940s! Try typing "Barbara Dennerlein boogie" or "Milt Buckner boogie" on youtube to hear how amazing it sounds when jazz's greatest masters are at work.

Hey Mike, I'm vacationing at the Boston's South shore this week. I stopped in a local music shop (awesome shop btw), the manager got real excited when I told him I was a keyboard player. He took me around the corner to a 78 rhodes in mint condition. I played some of the blues stuff I picked up from your channel and a lot of my own. The rhodes had so much more soul than any of the digitals of today do. Mike your channel is awesome, I can work these bits of knowledge into my playing when the time allows. One day when I have enough time to commit I'll sign up for one of your Master classes.

Well I know that certain drawbars add 5th or maj 3rds from the note you’re playing. Does this clash when you’re playing minor chords? For example.. you add the drawbar that adds a maj 3rd and you’re hitting a G minor chord but it’s adding that B.
@UniverseofKeys26 күн бұрын
I have never noticed clashing to be honest. Doesn’t seem to be an issue :)

Hammond made many drawbar settings. They all had different names. Tuba, Flute, Piano, Trombone. Yes they all sound like variations of an organ. No it is not literal ;) but I will get my ears checked 😂
