Worked gravel pits near Bonners Ferry Idaho from 1998 till 2011. Saw a lot of stuff I didn’t understand fully, ie…..quarrying down through 30-40 feet of poorly sorted gravel till to hit a bed of fine sand with random boulders half the size of a small car! I found a bed of fine sand striated with clay seams and dry musty small driftwood-esque sticks. At the time I wondered if they could date back to end the the ice age, but couldn’t exactly justify having one carbon dated on a heavy equipment operators salary. My stick fascination provided great amusement to my co-workers😂
