I find a combination works best. I use Ossur's Foot-up WITH the Step-Smart. The Step-Smart device goes on first. Then I wrap the Foot-Up ankle wrap part around the Step-Smart. This helps hold the ankle wrap part in place by preventing it from sliding down the ankle over time.

I wish the videos focused more on the patient using the brace. Their gait before and after and shows them putting it on. A picture says a thousand words in this case.

I have had 4 of these and after 2 months, the thing falls apart. The ankle rivot OR the strap always rips out/off. It is a clever design, and concealable, but needs some more work, it does not stabilize the ankle enough. I don't know why the part that runs up the back of the leg is convex? If is were made concave it would prevent lateral travel of the upper part of the brace on the leg. They say there is a warranty, but I am in Canada, I am not paying $80 for the duty (Canadians ordering this brace beware, be sure you add on $80 to the price shown on this website they don't tell you about.) The delivery person showed up and would not give me the brace unless I paid him $80. I am not being sour but I kind of am. It is so frustrating how this works for me for two months and then I am walking along (I never know when or where it will happen) I hear a 'pop'...and it's all over. Another month of not being able to walk properly.

I have been using Ossur foot up and don't have the issue this guy has. My heel comes down first, no slap.
