Jack the Chipper is a traditional British fish and chip shop with branches based in London England. Take Away and Dine in Restaurant. It's themed upon Jack the Ripper an unidentified serial killer active in the largely impoverished areas in and around the Whitechapel district of London in 1888. Gravy is traditionally made using meat juices. Sausage or pie and chips with gravy aye but not fish

Am Yorkshire born & bred and wouldn't normally ever have southern fish & chips however these looked really good. Loved the shop & the people. Food looked great too. For southern fish & chips it's a 10/10 for me

Fresh Fish! The saying is "Don't eat Fish on a Monday" and if it smells fishy don't eat it! My Daughter is a Professional Chef and had to inform her NHS Manager's when they gushed over Fish smelling fishy! And loving it you don't eat it! Lol

Great review the place seems very clean both the cod and haddock looked good as for the prices they seem reasonable for London also good to see the owner care about the freshness of fish he sells. If I was in that part of the country I'd definitely be in there. It just shows how the these review websites and goggle reviews can put you off a place before it's been tried.

Brilliant MM and DJ I'm fed up of the south being slagged off by the north, London is 284 miles away from Cornwall and 282 miles from Newcastle! London is essentially the Midlands so come further down👍as for people moaning about the name😴 I thought it was funny, it could of been called Harold chipman! Anyway sorry you burnt your chops MM makes a change for asbestos lips to feel the heat😂 really good fish great staff,great decor and very clean. Top vid guys ✌️🍻

I just had some fish and chips for dinner from Jack the Chipper and it's the BEST! The food is BLOODY BRILLIANT! Don't get all the hate. I'm supporting them all the way! It's just a play on words. People showing hate just blinking grow up!

great video!!!...here in the states we only have chain fish and chips...and they only serve haddock or pollock...SOMETIMES...BUT rarely they will offer cod...but i prefer haddock like you macmaster...some offer flounder....not good to me flounder....sorry to only call you by your last name....but i've never heard you say your first name....but great video for sure!

Do not take this the wrong way. Was bought up on rock, skate , haddock and plaice. I think the texture & taste of Cod is for those that aren't comfortable eating strong tasting fish. IMO. 👍

Firstly, the gravy issue, a Scouse perspective. On fish and chips, no, never, EVER. Curry's acceptable on the side, to dip chips in, never to be poured over the fish. Mushy peas, obligatory. Re fish, I've never met one i didn't like. Cod, haddock, plaice, rock (which i've had down south), all really tasty. Go with what you fancy. Sadly, around Liverpool it's very rare you get a choice fish! Re your meal, 'too many peas'... I was about to ask why southerners are so stingy with those tiny pots. To fit in those carboard boxes, and save on portion size i imagine. Happily, round here, peas come in big styrofoam cups (at least) twice the size those pots :)

Hi Lee. Hey Darren! Although I love fish and chip and full English breakfasts. It’s been nice to watch you review other food establishments too. What about a roast dinner down in London. That’s gotta be up there as my fav meal thing to eat out if I can. Farmhouse carverys chain has fabulous food. Just a shame they won’t do many until Sunday. Roast spuds love em. Have you reviewed any of them? Darrens looked better. Yours looks bent and ran over flat again

That is a really cool looking chip shop. Id love to go there someday. The only thing they do that I wouldn't like is cooking in nut oil when dripping is your only man. Most of the chip shops around here are run by first and second generation Italians. They all use dripping and the chips do be amazing.

Golden chippy in Greenwich High Road about a mile away is the best in the area. Worked there for about 5 years, as with all the town centre places there's a tourist mark up on the prices.

lee hello again there called pillar box because back in the day when you wife did not wont you to touch her she would put a long pillow type in the middle of the bed witch was called a bolster pillow hence the name pillar box the bolster pillow was the length of the bed almost same size as the letter box thank,s ian and jen and me cat benjelina xx

Good review. I like the name of that chip shop. A 9 for me looking at the food. Slightly overpriced I think but could b London prices. No curry sauce for me , its a southern thing :)
