If you think about it, the concept of a ninja who can “use the light” (kill you in broad daylight) is pretty scary.

While subtle, it is amazing how one line can show how skilled Jack is. Hiding in the dark is easy, the hard part is learning to be silent while moving in it. Blending in with daylight however is a whole different level, and frankly way more terrifying.

it's not about plain sight, it's about the contrast of extreme darkness and light. In this scenario it's sunset and the dark prevails. But just a little bit of sunlight seems very White.

This might sound weird, but I liked how Jack is often in his undies. Let me rephrase that: I like how Jack is not embarrassed by being almost naked. He is so focused, well trained and smart that he never hesitates to use his clothing or remove it when necessary

This is, by far, my favorite episode of Samurai Jack, mainly because of the Art Direction. It was mostly a conceptual episode, but it brought to mind the visual ideal of Yin-Yang, and the execution was incredibly exciting.

This is quite simply one of the greatest four minutes of animation (infact the entire second half of this episode is) that has ever been made. This should be studied in history, this should be part of school curriculum. This is art.

This show has such a striking visual style that the sound design is so easy to overlook. The music, ambiance and sound effects are perfect. I could listen to the entire series and not miss the visuals at all but oh what I'd miss! Take a look at the contrast between the straight architecture and the flowing, closing darkness at 3:00.

Without a doubt, best display of shinobi vs shinobi in anime/cartoons, the sheer WEIGHT of each sword swing is felt when they connect and the sparks fly, but none of the whooshing bs from the swords, no needless camera movement or over complicated details, and the way Jack just vanishes is beautiful.😢❤
