It actually does look much better than I was expecting. I think this is also a good mode for people who like tarkov, but don't have the time to put in the grind required for the base game.

This actually gives you a chance to get better at combat instead of having a panic attack during a raid and trying to get better but always a random bullet out of nowhere ends your chance to learn.

This is going to drastically change how confident a lot of players are in the base game

It would be awesome if this team manages to develop a BF's rush like mode, or even an insurgency's push like mode, there is a huge market to fill there, and a game with the mechanics of tarkov could fill that gap really well

I’m hyped for it, started playing Tarkov this year for the first time. Didn’t think I’d enjoy it that much being I work full time and you hear how people complain about that part. Not having enough time lol It’s now the only game I play, uninstalled cod etc.. only bad thing is Escape from Tarkov made them other games really boring lol. Even with the issues the game has, I’d rather play it than any other fps.

One of the aspects I love most of Jack's channel is him sampling different games. It's like getting to play a demo without having to install, and I can do it while I've got my handles in the dish sink.

Tarkov gunplay is insanely fun, this gives us more of it without that dreadful bottoming out of loot.

hmmm seems they have seen the success of insurgency sandstorm and their more laid back/hardcore pace. I was so happy when they added tdm to pubg as well. there were so many realistic game mechanics i would want to try but just couldnt put in the time for it. super hyped for this!

I stopped playing Tarkov because of all that endless grind and time you you need to spend to play it. Without all of that and with just the fighting on small maps, it could get me back.

I'm liking the unique doors on each map and the few seconds to get ready before they open. I also like all the little qol features like a killfeed, etc. Ir looks really polished and robust, hopefully it plays and runs well when it's released

I'd really enjoy this I think. Tarkov is way too sweaty, but just a normal pvp game with Tarkov's gunplay, attachments, ammo, and weapons would be sick

We’ve really gone full circle from arena shooters becoming extraction shooters to extraction shooters becoming arena shooters and ending up with the thing we had in the first place.

Excellent vid Jack. It's all starting to make sense now. It would give a bit more reason to play open world Tarkov if you could use your gains to have a little more throwaway fun with it. I'm seeing a move towards CoD with arena and CoD towards EFT with DMZ.

This looks perfect to me. I enjoy Tarkov, but don't get a lot of time to play so never manage to get to the point where I can try the cool weapons or gear sets before each wipe and it just puts me off playing it. This looks like the perfect solution, all the fun gameplay without the time commitment/ grind.

Yeah i really hope they can improve performance, and figure out the weak point's that's allowing for so many hacker's. Especially for the 1.0 release i would really like to see the open world connected maps come together like they planned. i would love to play open world tarkov. I could also see them bringing in S&D and domination in the future. Imagine Tarkov on Battlefield scale??

This looks really cool. I don't really have the time to commit to the extraction mode but arena mode looks more casually which would be perfect for me. I'll be checking this out for sure.

This is amazing, I want something like this so I can learn and train while having fun. In extraction you could spend 20 minutes in a raid and have one gunfight that lasts 15 seconds. It’s like trying to eat a whole meal by eating crumbs.

Can't wait, great way to practice and warm up. In a normal game you might get in 1 firefight every 40 mins, and even then they don't last long. I think you'll get a much better feel for the mechanics by playing arena.

After Battlefields fails I found Tarkov to be absolutely outstanding. Particulartly in the depth of gameplay mechanics. But you are right with a lot of contra points e.g. cheaters, gameperformance etc. Anyway. good to see you covering EFT!

So, I played some dayz way back when in Arma 2 and while it was fun it was rare to get much trigger time. So, I started to play Wasteland in Arma 2 and wow.. That was a lot of fun. lots of trigger time, no loot loss, and teamwork.

This will be basically like a training arena for shooting players before hopping onto the full game, like CSGOs target practice maps or unranked matches

FINALLY! When i was mentioning this to Nikita on of their streams a few years ago, it seemed like he was a little hurt by the people that also supported a PVE mode with coop features. They did not understand why people would play the game just against AI, and that it not was what their vision of the game was... But some time later they started working on the Arena mode were you could just go PVP and have fun in much shorter and action packed rounds. And now i believe that they either see the fun in playing coop with friends agaist AI to just enjoy the weapon (FPS) gameplay mechanics of the game without the pressure of other players and the looting and extracting al the time.... This game can be really fun to play if you not have to do the same thing over and over (Deploy, loot, avoid getting sniped or trolled by players that play the game 16 hours a day) The fact that you need to gain XP to be better at handling weapons and so on is also something i think they should change... Then it would always be hopeless to come in late to play once in a while. Those that play Tarkov, and Tarkov only 27/7 will always be better at everything even if you have real skills at FPS games and tactics in general.... Me for instance, i hate to just run around searching for loot at the same places over and over in a game that also favors those that pay more for the game. Starting with larger containers to be able to always bring more or larger items makes the cash earning much easier. And that there also is someone or more in almost every round that runs around in full gear killing everyone they see is just breaking the fun... You should not kill your own faction. And what about looking for other players to team up with and attack boss AI? Never seen that happen... SOOO, COOP and ARENA will be something good for the game! Just wish that there was a form of story campaign coming also at some point. Or coop missions that makes you traverse across the maps to complete tasks/quests, and also fight against better and better AI as you progress....

I have never been able to get into tarkov, I try over and over and I just can't keep up with the learning curve. But if this will offer the gunplay and customization that I bought tarkov in the first place for then I cannot wait.

I’m excited for arena cause I love the gunplay of Tarkov but as someone with a full time job and other hobbies I haven’t played in years cause you have to be sooo consistent with it in order to not just be doing hatchet runs all the time.

Played it at the Gamescom and it felt as smooth as Factory. All the same mechanics, settings etc. No visual bugs encountered - but the killcam wasn't implemented yet

this has been my dream from the beginning, my biggest fear was id have to use/loose my inventory so standalone is huge :) also will be a great testing ground for builds/weapons for both the players and bsg.

BACK TO THE ORIGINS!! CONTRACT WARS / Hired OPS !!!! Bringing back this style will be more appealing to a larger number of players!

This sounds amazing! Tarkov but without losing stuff on death, and hopefully no wipes too? I'd love to play around with Tarkov's gunplay/mechanics and weapon customization, but being able to lose things was always an instant nope for me. That, and TDM definitely appeals to me more. Though I suppose we're not likely to get this on console...

Lord end wipe is so sweaty but fun, last wipe was my first I dropped around 800+ hours and played from February to till wipe, got to around level 35 with all level 3 traders and have a stash worth always above 60 mill, my rubles tho would vary from 1 mill to 12 depending how good my weeks going. Needless to say this game is very demanding and although I learned how to pvp a little, my gun skill is far from being amazing, I’m hoping arena connects that bridge for me

As soon as I saw Sawmill in the map selection screen, I knew it was going to be the map from Contract Wars.

this used to be a game called contract wars. i used to play it a ton. its still available as well as hired ops. which is another game they made. all the same tarkov universe.

This is going to be HUGE when it releases, giving solo players a way to learn teamplay and get crucial experience in combat in a more controlled environment. Although the game may have bloated numbers on release for everyone who bought EOD just for gamma and max stash

As someone who has 1000+ hours in tarkov, im really looking forward to using this as a way to still play the game when i have other things going on in life and cant commit to a full wipe grind. Hopefully itll also be a good place to test weapons and mods that im not used to.

I don't play EFT any more as it's too addictive and consumes my time and my thoughts all day long. But I will totally enjoy Arena with my friends.

So excited to see Tarkov get some mainstream appeal and Esports potential. This might be the first time i've been excited about the appeal of Esport here!

I've never been able to get into Tarkov because of how hard it is to learn once I start my phase of trying to learn it again. But this might be the best way to learn all the core gameplay mechanics in isolation before playing the extraction game itself.

i'll try it out and the co op looks like it could be fun

I believe the developer said at one point that they'd be developing a single player experience after they're done with tarkov. That might be on the big, unified map of all the ones in tarkov.

ngl i don't have the most time to play eft but i do love it! so getting my skills up on arena for the main game is a big + for me personally because i can hop on Arena and play for an hour or so after work no issue.

I'm so happy BSG are going back to their Contract Wars roots. I always thought of a proper remaster and standalone Contract Wars. I never liked playing battle royales and looting games, and thus I never had interest in Tarkov Finally one that I'll have my hands on.

this is a very good idea because one of the reasons I don't play Escape from tarkov is I don't know any of those mechanics.

Wish this was on console though, not really a fan of the extraction style gameplay but I like the hard core gunplay and health mechanics as i love insurgency sandstorm. If it can have the game modes of a cod, battlefield, halo with the gunplay and wepon customisation of tarkov then this sounds amazing for me

This looks like if COD met Squad, and I like it. If I had a PC I'd get this game, but damn that recoil is nuts.

The number one reason I play EFT is for the gunplay so I am all in for Arena mode if I don’t have to keep doing those same damn quests I’ve done a thousand times!

I will be getting this. I like EFT but I'm casual as well and I really don't feel like dedicating the time to playing it. I play a lot of games and I enjoy it but it doesn't feel like a casual, hop on a couple times a week to play type of game. Not like this. This genuinely looks impressive.

I hope that aside the premade lodouts you can buy pieces and build your own as into the full game

I have EOD, and I look forward to this mode. Tarkov is full of cheaters, unfortunately. It's a real shame the world is full of them, and other games have issues, too, but it makes the extraction game very hard to deal with. The game has no replay and Kill cam features or reporting options. This would go a long way to help players and developers combat the cheaters. - Nice review - thank you, liked and subscribed.

What's funny is the devs worked on Contract Wars which is more or less Tarkov Arena before Tarkov existed.
