I disagree Jackie is not a legend he is a typical Chinese kung fu star like jet li, you shouldn't use the word legend so loosely because to be legendary is a whole other level which few aspire to like Bruce Lee people will always remember him.

Bruce actually strucked Chan with a wooden stick and he immediately apologized to him and told him he could be in all of Lee's films but unfortunately Lee died before he could keep his promise.I remember Chan was supposed to be in Lee's version of The Game of Death where he plays a fan who asks for Bruce's autograph.

Very honest ,& open about himself with being in the same capacity with Bruce Lee. Bruce was a like a mentor to Jackie Chan because the way Jackie is expressing himself when working with Bruce Lee & later on , prospered in his (Jackie Chan) movies. So very honest with himself. Bruce Lee told him one time ,BE YOURSELF.

All 3 of them came from the same opera school. When their opera master/teacher retired to the US, the teacher got them jobs as stuntmen/extras in the movie industry. In opera schools, in those days, students/novices had to learn acrobatic skills, some basic martial arts (since they had to take on a wide portfolio of roles).

I love how he talks about his film style and characters. We need to not compare Bruce with Jackie. I love them both but they were different. Bruce was a cool fast talking philosopher, who become the epitome of awesome, and his movies defined the and started the martial arts genre; he's a legend and his movies live on as does Jeet Kune Do. Jackie is not bruce, Jackie made more movies, his movies were more entertaining and modern, he was director and incredible choreographer, he would get hurt, he kicked low, he did more stunts, he was funny, he shook his hands. I love them both, but I liked hearing jackie talk about their differences.

That's the one thing that future action stars have to do: give audiences a fresh take on the genre. Bruce Lee presented a more realistic and spontaneous fighting style than what's being shown in kung fu cinema at the time, Jackie Chan explored the funny side of martial arts w/ a shot of adrenaline provided by his death-defying stunt work, Jet Li gave the opportunity for filmmakers to showcase the advancements of practical effects in the genre, Chow Yun-fat helped usher the concept of gun fu through his legendary collaborations w/ John Woo, etc...

As a kid, I watched a few Jackie Chan movies which incorporated poignant grief of good folks succumbing to vicious villains, sacrifice and hard training enabling revenge against intransigent villains, and delightful entertainment in martial arts choreography i.e. Jackie Chan did everything, including emoting as an actor should.

Jackie was comedic but he was a badass too the fact he recognized so many people wanted to be Bruce Lee and he wanted to find his niche is the biggest reason that besides Bruce he's likely the most recognized martial arts movie star in the world. @KenMasters. Жыл бұрын
Even Chan once tried to join the Bruceploitation band-wagon trend when he did New Fist of Fury (新精武門) back in 1976. At that time, Jackie Chan wasn't his stage name, it was instead Sing Lung (Chinese: 成龙, literally meaning "becoming a dragon", by which Chan is still known today in Asia). He later found out that being the next Bruce Lee wasn't his style.

First, good job on knowing how to speak English the way you do. It's very good. I'm not a native English speaker either and English is not a hard language to learn but it is difficult to master. Having said that, I did see some mistakes in your comments. Nothing major, just a few minor ones. And about Jackie Chan, English is not the only language he has to learn. He has a career around the world and has to know how to speak all those languages on a conversational level. Ciao.
