4 ай бұрынIn this video we work on getting a couple of nice trees up the hill. I was worried about the second tree sliding backwards down the hill. It was a nice tall, slick doug fir and they like to slide on steep ground. ( The camera does not show the steep ground very well) but trust me...it was plenty steep. So the fir was either going to stick....or slide down the hill backwards.

Dan, glad you have a helper/spotter/apprentice. I know it's not how it's done, but two sets of eyes is better than one. After almost dying 9 years ago from a hung tree I always have a helper. But... I don't do it for a living. Stay safe and God bless.

I agree... it's better to have a helper if possible.. especially in big timber... with big limbs that can break off as the tree goes out. It's impossible to cut the tree and keep an eye on the limbs at the same time...

I think God was smiling down on you when that fir got hung on the stump. You had a good escape plan though. Timber falling is a thinking man's game.

Thanks Steve! ...and yes...you are correct. Much safer to think things out before hand and not be scrambling for your life due to poor planning!

Yes! That time is upon us....the good old spring time...when the sap is running...and the bark is shedding....

Why do you have to fall them uphill?

Because they were nice trees and that was the best ground for them. The sidehill ground was rough and the downhill ground was cut off by a harvest boundary
