Lt. Commander Willink and Admiral McRaven are two men I could sit and listen to talk all day long. I’m so thankful there are still people who love their country as much as I do! 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 Sending love from eastern Kentucky!
@@Grace-mg7py I can’t believe jocko himself replied to some random heartfelt comment and was so moved by it that he made the decision to try and sell him some crypto crap, I can say for myself that I already invested 69k into this because I love the podcast so much and I can only hope that I can sell in the future and make 420k in profits

My platoon (3/66 AR mortars) saw news reports of this on TV when we were in Bayji. I don't remember if we were aware of it prior to seeing the news or not, but I'll never forget watching it on the little TV we had there. It was kind of surreal. Col Hickey was our brigade CO and had just been to our little compound a month or so before to check in on us after an attack during the riots in October.

Very cool story and how it unfolded from the inside. Admiral McRaven and how he handled Saddam explaining how the ego was eliminated when he knew he wasn’t in charge anymore. Would have loved to be at the table to listen and learn from wisdom how they both handled situations in difficult circumstances.

For some reason, as a B52 crew dog in Desert Storm, I seem to recall being briefed that the code word “Horner’s Busters” meant that intel had determined that a particular aircraft had Saddam Hussein aboard. “Horner” was an AF general, but I’ve forgotten who or what was “Buster.” Sound familiar to anyone?

And the code for Ubl was "geronimo", and I knew that because of the historical significance.
I'm curious... With all due respect, if Saddam was 'sadistic' and 'pure evil', then why did the U.S. back him in the 1980s in the war against Iran, knowing that he was launching some of the worst chemical attacks in history?

@@michelmilaneh8963 Yes it was. The weapons of Mass destruction everyone was hoping to be nukes, weren't nukes. They were chemical weapons and they were used by Saddam to kill hundreds of thousands of his own people. Even Bill Clinton (at the end of his presidency, you can find the speech on youtube) warned the American people that the United States may have to go back to war in the gulf if Saddam wouldn't stop his horrific terror campaign.
