Just spent the morning mopping up water that escaped from my aquarium during the night so watching you scrabbling around in the muck made me feel less alone. Fascinating to see what you found - will watch it again.

This video was really interesting and entertaining to watch🥰 I love a good, functioning wildlife pond with native plants and inhabitants. Yours looks gorgeous, small but thriving with life. I started a small mortar tub pond in the front garden. And a shallow metal tub in the back garden. But that one will be replaced next year for a real pond, approximately 1,80 meter in diameter, round or egg shaped with a small paved seating area with a half rounded bench.

Thank you for this video. I have a wide wildlife pond and it was great to hear and see your experiences. Brooklime can be invasive (at least in my pond) so I'm going down to one pot (instead of two). I do use a pump but have a Hozelock model with the 2mm filter. I currently have frogs, newts and many snails :) There are also backswimmers which I don't like but hey, it's nature. Thanks again.

My husband says a definite “no” to us having a pond as we have grandchildren and he worries, quite sensibly really but id love to have a pond. I love frogs, I have a lot of frog ornaments and even a tattoo 🐸 I have subscribed, just because you were fun and educational. I recognise the accent too, I’d guess somewhere close to Scunthorpe?

What type of eels are these? And can they survive a snow winter outside

I have drained my pond a few times now using my "workshop vacuum cleaner".. pretty much sucks anything up that'll fit in its hose.the body holds 25litres of liquid a go and can be emptied by tipping up..

Yep, eels will eat anything that moves, but they certainly need our help.

I think they are great, If I had a bigger pond I'd keep a couple

@@JackPWMedia They actually travel from land locked ponds to migrate back. They go overland in wet weather to the nearest stream/ brook.

@@chriscarr9171 They seem to act like our Yabbies here in Australia, they do a similar thing when it rains, they can travel km's to get to a new water source.

I'm surprised you have tadpoles with having newts in the pond as well. They wiped out my frog population.

Can be confused with Equisetum arvense, but your plant is in fact Hippuris vulgaris.

I wonder if any fish has ever had more swear words attached to it than an eel? Everything about them is annoying. Slimy, hard to hold, wreck hooklengths, won't open their bloody mouths. And when they have finished pissing you off in freshwater, they move into the sea and do it again when you are beach fishing!

Horrible messy smelly job that can throw up all sorts of interesting wildlife.
