I bought the Oxblood one about a month ago. And that neck is actually insane. It feels like a MJ or almost American quality neck. I almost thought about saving a little longer for an MJ Dinky, but honestly, I'm glad I bought the pro plus.

I have played all sorts of guitars over the past 20 years, but FOR ME Dinkys are my jam, I have the 22 32 and pro plus so worth the money, each guitar has its purpose. If you are new to DINKYs go and pick up a jackson DK22 for £150- you wont regret it, it was my first step into the awesomeness that is the jackson DINKY.

You don't need a new bridge. Get the push in kit for $18. There is zero design or performance difference between the FR1000, FR1500 or OFR. Get the fat brass, Arch Top will take a 42mm. Good review. I have several Pro Series but haven't played a Pro Plus yet, but that pick combo came 9n my Virtuoso and it's awesome isn't it. 😊

Hey Christopher. Great playing and I love the channel. I just purchased two of these and I agree with the previous comment that these stack up to their MIJ 90’s counterparts. I’m very impressed. I just saw you listed this one on Reverb (the ‘84 Floyd gave away that it was yours lol). Can I ask what made you decide to part ways with it?

Jacksons are great , surprised you didn't go for the one with active fluencers .... It's one of the best feeling Jacksons I've played..or guitar period.. I've got a nice performer and love the HSH combo..good playing

This Pro plus series Dinky, is a lifer guitar for me. Hands down, best Jackson I've ever played.

Man, sick playing, and the guitar looks awesome. How does the floyd hold tune? I've owned a FR1000 guitar before and it was perfect with tuning stability.

Hi Chris. Re FR 1000: people say they set up perfectly(!). Other people say they aren't even close to Schaller quality. i feel like both are correct. Also goes w/o saying great playing sir!

There's absolutely NOTHING wrong with the 1000 series. This played amazing and was super stable with the 1000 on it. I just prefer the feel and resonance of the 1984/original Floyd Rose. I have since this video, put in a 1984 with titanium posts and it's over the top now. I don't typically keep guitars for very long, but this one now... It might be in my care for a very long time. @ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear ahh! I just compare to My Schaller single-locker (with the thru hole saddles)* on 90's Squire. I just have regular Strat nut then with staggered* Fender lockers and I ordered the original bar from Floyd Rose too for $13 lol. Most would look down on a single locker but i can quick change strings and it stays in tune. I ebay'd 2 FR 1000 about 6 month ago regardless :-) 1 actually went on my entry level Jackson with the carbon fiber reinforced neck.. The fret ends* on that were/still are awful haha! Wish there were more Ti FR parts too! Nice!!*

nothing wrong with Floyd 1000, a push in arm, if you like those, is like $20 last time I got one. I kinda prefer screw in arm though

Love watching your videos, but have you considered recording the input into an interface for the guitars so we can hear an uncolored sound? :)

I did it that way for a handful of videos last year. I hate editing videos and I like the "in the room" sound better, personally. I'll likely stick with my "shoot and release" style. Thanks for watching! Cheers!

Any thoughts on this vs Ibanez rg550? I’m a little torn. About the same price at the moment

Oof... That's a tough one. I think the stock trem on the Ibanez is better and the body contours offer more comfort. But, the Jackson comes with fantastic pickups, an Ebony fretboard (my personal favorite), SS frets and luminlay side dots. I also prefer the HH setup over the HSH. So.... for me the Jackson slightly edges out the RG550.

All great guitars. But, if I had to pick just one, I'd go with the Jem. For 2 simple reasons. The body is far more comfortable than both the others, and it will go up in value more than the others. All of them play and sound great. The Jem is just slightly better IMO. Which is also reflected in its price.

Nice review, I might give it a try on this one ! It would be fine if you'd said anything about fretboard. Are the sharp edged, is that white the paint ok, does this tremolo stay in tune? I have just returned Jackson Rhoads RRX24 due to QM issues, horrible fretboard with glue traces on it, uneven frets, paint flaws...I don not really trust Jackson QM from my experience! Anyway, hard to compare the two, RRX24 has laurel fretboard which sucks, Dinky is ebony, which is much better and a big plus are the steel frets! Yet, RRX24 has active pickups Duncan which, in my opinion, sound better than passive! Thanks ! 2:55

I was considering this Jackson, but I'm getting tired of Seymour Duncan pickups in everything. I ended up getting a Schecter AM6 - great guitar.

Yeah I'm not a fan of Seymour Duncan either. Every SD pickup I've ever heard, I've hated. They just sound cheap to me normally.

Are those hair ties on the headstock?, if so does that do anything?

Yep. I put a hair tie on all of my guitars with headstocks. It eliminates sympathetic string vibrations behind the nut. This helps with unwanted noise and sustain.
