There's a challenge like this for drummers. Yes, all at once. Including the 5-beat cycle. I think it was by a guy named Cacob Jollier. I think someone should make a video of some bouncing balls dropping to the polyrhythm, that would illustrate it a lot better.

If you break it down to 60 beats per iteration then you see how complicated this stuff really is. This would be the chart of which finger has to hit which beats: 2 (red): 1; 31 3 (green): 1; 21; 41 4 (blue): 1; 16; 31; 46 5 (orange): 1; 13; 25; 37; 49; 6 (purple): 1; 11; 21; 31; 41; 51

Is the 60 beats you counting the rpm?
@lheringАй бұрын
@@pedroivog.s.6870 nah, 60 is just the lowest common multiple of 2,3,4,5 and 6.
@lheringАй бұрын
@@lonelybookworm I did consider that, and I do realise that it would make the numbers look prettier, but counting in music always starts at 1. There is no 0th beat in a bar. If there were, all the beats and off beats would be out of place. In a 4/4 for example the important beats are 1 and 3. 0 and 2 might be the prettier (or more even) numbers but you'd find it pretty weird if somebody counted "0,1,2,3" in a 4/4 measure. I think it's fair to say that the same applies here, even if the numbers are bigger. Please note: If this respone is a pain in the a** to read, that's probably because I was really struggling to translate all the precise terminology into English.

We'd do this in college band as a warm up, with the conductor changing our chords on the fly. Lots of fun. Did it with my own bands, and body percussion with simpler hemiolas to introduce elementary kids to counting and recognizing the difference between beat vs rhythm. It's a lot of fun, difficult to master each part, but when you and your buddies can it's a flex.
