Basically, the inside jokes were about coming home in the music which Jacob didn't at the beginning. He made different chord progressions and didn't end with a home, but still bowed like it was the end of the song, which it clearly wasn't. Also, he did not give the chords a purpose and goal, which makes it funny because he knows exactly what he is doing in his music always. Hope this makes it a little bit more clear :)

@@nikolajkaaekirk1504 studied for a bit to become a sound engineer, never went through with it. Most tracks are mixed to include reverb and a lot of other effects or plug ins to change the sound of a artist. Natural Reverberation (echo) can give a "hifi" sound kind of, that and live instruments. Instead of the noise dropping and fading like a real echo, the speakers regurgitate the noise and all you get is crisp never ending reverberation that is on a loop. They probably had a lot of live mastering done prior and during the show, but the live piano, and vocals probably gave it that effect.

Was lucky enough to get the chance to finally see Jacob after 2 years postponements from the pandemic. I was originally supposed to go with my girlfriend who is now my ex. I was almost nervous from the thought of what the concert meant to me as a result. I was also a bit hesitant from some of the energy associated with the fan base, that you get the impression of online, that everyone seems to be having a measuring contest about how "intellectual" their music taste is. But all I can say is if you're lucky enough to have Jacob pass through your town, go. Just go. Everyone I met there was lovely. I heard absolutely none of the jabber about how "that musical joke wasn't accidental enough for me, man". Jacob is first and foremost a phenomenal performer. The humorous moments could come as simply as Jacob taking a dramatic step away from the spotlight as it chases him around the stage and get as crazy as varying a time signature to build up a dramatic climax only to subvert expectations with a single note. When the crowd sings along, you could certainly tell that there were a ton of incredible musicians in the crowd. But the vibe was more "let me help guide you to this next note", as Jacob basically conducted an impromptu choir, rather than "don't sing unless you have perfect pitch". You get the feeling that this guy just loves to play music and there's nowhere he'd rather be than on stage making people jive. There's no sense whatsoever that he's just trying to flex musically on you, although of course he is beyond what you could believe a single person could perform musically. There was an especially potent moment for me when Jacob played "He Won't Hold You" and asked us to imagine someone who you maybe had lost during the pandemic that couldn't be there with you, and of course that reminded me of my ex. It was an incredible moment of catharsis that helped me to feel like I was leaving the dark place I'd been in during the pandemic and the dark memories of the breakup and into this beautiful moment shared with a ton of amazing people. Thanks Jacob!
