In 2020, the world faced an unprecedented crisis as the COVID-19 pandemic brought life to a halt. Businesses shut their doors, and the vibrant sounds of pubs, clubs, and bars fell silent under lockdown. Like many other facilities, swimming pools were also forced to close their doors. As the 2020 Olympics loomed on the horizon, athletes encountered a challenge: their training facilities were no longer accessible, threatening to derail their progress and dreams.
In the midst of this adversity, a solution emerged in the form of swim spas. These innovative hybrids of swimming pools and hot tubs became a game-changer. With the familiar rectangular shape of a pool, swim spas allowed for all favourite strokes, from freestyle to backstroke to breaststroke. Adjustable swim jets provided varying levels of resistance, enabling athletes to set their own limits and customise their training. Swim spas not only provided a means to maintain fitness but also offered a space for relaxation and hydrotherapy, an ideal solution for athletes looking to continue their rigorous training regimens from the safety and comfort of their own homes.
In a remarkable show of community and support, efforts were made to deliver these Jacuzzi® swim spas to athletes' homes. This collective endeavour enabled athletes to resume their training, contributing to the most successful Olympics in history for GB Swimming, proving that with creativity and collaboration, we can overcome any obstacle.
