From what the manga tries to portray, Yuji & a few other characters has Special Grade level destruction/fight capabilities but can't be classified as such due to their inability to wrestle a country alone!!! * I still think Yuji lacks in terms of domain defenses, as long as we don't see a domain answer from him - he is kind of in a tough spot

Honestly giving someone like Yuji RCT was the biggest buff you could give him. Yuji could already fight through more pain then damn near any other character in the series now that he can heal himself bro is actually a tank. This combined with the fact that every punch he lands drops your curse energy means that in a battle of attrition unless you have Sukuna levels of curse energy you're probably gonna gas out before he does and god forbid one of those is a black flash. Overall I'd say Yuji does now qualify for the special grade tier with what we've seen him show so far.

I feel like the problem that Special grade is too broad to be used to accurately describe a sorcerers power. Yuji IS a special grade, but he's nowhere close to the other special grades, and that is what causes disagreements. The special grade tier is simply too broad. Yuta's ability to copy any technique is absolutely absurd. Yuki makes black holes. Geto had like 6000 curses in his control. And then Gojo shoots lasers, can't be touched and has nearly unlimited energy. How can a fist fighter, even if they are becoming indestructible, compare to them? The gap in skill between grade 4-3-2-1 sorcerers seems pretty linear, but then all the special grades we see are like 10 grades beyond grade 1. Like seriously think about how there's just SO much room between someone like Grade 1 Nanami or Naobito to Special Grade Geto and Yuta. There's this giant gap between the two, and I think this makes people forget that to be special grade, you don't need to be Yuki, Geto, Yuta or Gojo strong. In the early chapters, we see that generally, a sorcerers grade means they win against a curse of the same level. So a grade 1 sorcerer is stronger than a grade 1 curse, who is stronger than a grade 2 sorcerer and so on. It doesn't seem unreasonable to assume that Special grade sorcerers are stronger than special grade curses. And given that current Yuji has the potential to beat pretty much every disaster curse, I think that alone means it's fair to give him title of Special Grade. We still need to see a domain answer, but right now he's not just beating finger special grades. He has the potential of beating the heavy hitters of the specials, and that does it for me. With RCT, he can even probably overthrow some small nations, so I don't think it's a crazy title to give him at all. Again though, the problem is that while special grade might start at, let's say, Grade -1, it doesn't have a ceiling. Nanami is grade 1 because he is a top tier fighter. Comparatively Yuji is now a BETTER fighter PLUS has healing PLUS blood hardening PLUS blood projectile PLUS blood explosions PLUS soul shenanigans. I'd say that together makes Yuji like a grade -5. In comparison though, Yuta is probably like a grade -10 with Rika, better RCT, Domain and technique copy. Meanwhile Gojo is Grade -100 and idk, is Sukuna like Grade -200? Getting into DBZ style power scaling, but you should see the problem here: hey're all in the same category, but not close in ability. Special grade just needs more designations, and this could be avoided. There should be a 'supreme special grade' for the god level powers of Gojo and Sukuna exclusively. Regular special grade title could then go to the ones with wildly crazy techniques like Yuta, Yuki and Geto. The likes of Yuji, Hakari, Choso, (and in terms of power, Maki and Toji) should then have a different title like Semi Special Grade. These are top tier, nearly indestructable fighters, but are at the end of the day, all just still technically fighters. They're great at fighting sorcerers, but there's just no way someone throwing fists should be in the same tier as someone making black holes. The 'semi' special grades just lack the cataclysmic oof of our classified Special Grades. Regardless, given the current grading system, Yuji, is deserving of Special Grade. Thank you for coming to my ted talk. tl;dr Special grade tier is an extremely wide umbrella term. Yuji is a special grade, he's just not as strong as the other special grades.

With RCT yuji has gotten rid off the main weakness of blood manipulation. He has mastered convergence, flowing red scale stack and can overwhelm sukunas soul. Our boi is a special grade

If not sheer destructive ability (Gojo, Sukuna, Yuki) then unlimited potential for growth seems to be the mark for special grades. Yuta and his copy ability, Geto and his ability to store unlimited curses, even Yaga and his ability to potentially stockpile an army of cursed puppets. Yuji and his ability to eat just about any cursed object to gain power from them would fit right in with the other special grade stockpile/growth types.

Im pretty sure he's also got infinite rct at least while he's biting himself and using Noratoshi's circulation technique, by continually eating sukuna's cursed energy infused into his body and using rct to make more blood. So Yuji might've poisoned himself over eating and choso might be teaching him how to heal it.

Just like how Gojo coming into the world created an increase in high level cursed spirits, Sukuna coming into the world will over time create stronger, and overall more, Jujutsu sorcerers. Gojo won't return in a physical manifestation unless it is outside of his original vessel. His body & soul are gone, but his teachings and feelings he inspired in others is the only thing allowing the balance of power between sorcerers and curses to not tilt too far in favor of the curses. Otherwise there would be no way someone as new to Jujutsu sorcery like Itadori and Okotsu to progress so quickly. We've seen a new era of sorcerers pop up out of nowhere, and at such young ages. Nature balances over time, humans can change things through will power and Gojo understood this, choosing to be the martyr which ignited the flame inside his students. He was fully aware he couldn't beat Sukuna and save megumi, so why'd he fight? Because sukuna killing Gojo is the only thing that keeps the Jujutsu world united and continuing to grow.

Special. Grade. Is. Not. Purely. About. Strength. Other than the 4 OGs, only Kenjaku, Uraume and MAYBE Yarozu, Kashimo would qualify. Defeating or hanging with a special grade is not enough to qualify. In terms of output you must single handedly be able to compete with the military force of an average sized nation. And in terms of potential, your cursed technique has to be theoretically infinite in some aspect; Infinite Curses, Infinite Techniques, Infinite Mass, Infinite Defenses/Stamina etc.

One big thing I see is the "potential" debate between Megumi and Yuji, Gojo saying Megumi had more potential than Yuji at the beginning of the series has been a key point in this debate. However, I believe with Yuji gaining blood manipulation as well as shrine hes surpassed the potential Megumi had. The big thing holding him back still is a DE, if he got his own DE he would easily be up there with Special Grades without debate. He now has RCT, Shrine, and Blood Manipulation (not including how he basically fucks on everyone black flash wise, having the same amount of total black flashes as Gojo and tying Nanamis record of consecutive black flashes againt Hanami)

I'm pretty sure there's somewhere stated that to be a special grade, they have to have something that will impact the JJK world as a whole and all the special grades kinda fit that, Gojo for his limitless and Infinity, Geto for his cursed spirit manipulation, Yuki, she was a star plasma vessel who ditched her duties to merge with Tengen and her cursed technique, Yuta for his possession of Rika and his copy curse technique. While Yuji kinda fits this spectrum due to the fact that he had consumed the other cursed wombs to gain blood manipulation, his soul swap technique, being blessed by the sparks of black, and his soul targeted attacks, if Yuji were to be consdered a special grade, he would fall more towards the low end due to the lack of exprience and power.

The nation a special grade can take down is probably on the level of medieval or early industrial not modern. The definition of a special grade probably occurred in the medieval period to early industrial period. Mean when kenjuku* talks about taking a nation on, he means an army with sword and catapults to an army with guns and cannons. He is probably not referring to super powers with nukes as only someone like gojo would be able to take that kinda power on and only because of his unique powers

10:29 red blue and purple arent extension techniques tho are they? blue is a lapse technique which is the base technique amplified to the max if im not mistaken (blue is an amplified version of the neutral limitless). Red is a reversal technique derived from blue. Purple i think is the only one that could be considered an extension technique but even then gojo specifically refers to it as "hollow technique"

The title of special grade sorcerer is given to those who can with no effort destroy entire cities or even put the whole world at risk just by themselves, or at least they have the potential to do so. Yuji is able to fight and defeat special grade curses, but that doesn't mean he is a special grade sorcerer himself, as curses are always one level lower to the level required for a sorcerer to defeat it (or at least that was in the past, when they were no talking curses that powerful like Jogo, Mahito and the others), meaning that a grade 1 sorcerer is usually enough to defeat a special grade curse (such as we saw with Mei Mei, although she needed Ui Ui's help but she basically did it by herself). Yuji is still a grade 1 sorcerer, but he might just be the most powerful one (especially now that Kusakabe just ripped and was said to be the very best grade 1).

EVERY nation can be toppled by Suguru Geto, having like 7 special or grade 1 spirits and like 2 years could topple America. And special grade doesn't have real requirements it's just up to the higher-ups and what the think the person is capable of.

Yuji seems to be able to tank Sukuna's cursed technique over and over again within the latest chapters, we can look at when Yuji was being showered by the onslaught that is Sukuna's cursed technique he didn't die.( albeit Megumi was suppressing Sukuna's cursed energy output) but what if it's because he's been drenched in Sukuna's cursed energy for so long that he has a higher tolerance to Sukuna's cursed technique. Satoru Gojo tanked his own attack but wasn't as damaged as Sukuna was due to it being his own cursed energy. What if that's the reason Itadori is so tolerant to Sukuna's slashes because he is drenched in Sukuna's cursed energy. Itadori has been compared to a cursed tool and Satoru Gojo made a comment early on in the series about Yuji possibly gaining Sukuna's cursed technique due to him being a host. What if Itadori has Sukuna's cursed technique? He has already inherited blood manipulation from being Kenjaku's kin and now possibly having cleave and dismantle from the king of curses, from a writing point of view kinda interesting don't you think? Inheriting cursed techniques from the thing he hated the most: "curses".

5:05 I don't think that is super nova. first off super nova works by creating spheres of compressed blood then exploding it however yuji's explosion was splattered blood on sukuna's face. It also "errupted" instead of exploding which has a different meaning.

The requirement for reaching special grade is simply being able to take down a nation single-handedly. Gojo and Sukuna definitely fill that requirement, so does Geto and Kenjaku with their Curse Spirit Manipulation (basically an invisible army of supersoldiers), Yuta and Yuki are really the only two you can argue against for being special grade. We don't know if this ranking system applies to Cursed Spirits as well but assuming it does, Jogo fits into this ranking perfectly, in fact I might call him the gold standard for it due to his pure destructive power alone. Mahito when he unlocked his Maximum Technique definitely could as well, he can just transfigure humans over and over so that they fight for him too. Hanami you could argue against though purely because we just haven't seen much of their destructive power. They died too fast in Shibuya to really do much and against Yuji and Todo I think they uprooted a few buildings at most. Choso definitely doesn't fit the special grade requirement considering he can be seen by humans, already losing the advantage Cursed Spirits have, and that Blood Manipulation isn't actually that destructive of a technique. Blood Manipulation seems to be very precise in its execution, meaning it aims to strike hard and fast, whittling down stronger opponents slowly but decimating weaker opponents. I would call Blood Manipulation a grade 1 technique to be honest though it is very useful in fights because it is perhaps the most versatile technique in JJK. Personally though, I would call Yuji at this point a special grade 1, meaning he is one step away from reaching special grade (grade 1 -> special grade 1 -> special grade). To note Yuji's abilities and techniques, he has Divergent Fist which make his blows even stronger against opponents weaker than special grade, an affinity for Black Flash which allows him to use it more often than most and makes his blows MUCH stronger even against stronger opponents and gives him a buff, if you will, for the next few minutes. He has inhuman endurance, meaning he can last much longer in fights than anyone else and RCT even if he does get hit particularly hard. He can use Simple Domain now which protects him from domain expansions and, if expanded, can make his movements faster and practically automatic, making them hard to predict and defend against. Finally onto his actual Cursed Techniques, he has Blood Manipulation which is a huge buff to his already large arsenal as well as the recently added Sukuna's Shrine technique (Cleave and Dismantle respectively). While his skill with both of these techniques is average for BM and quite low for Shrine, if he is given the time to hone both of them, he is definitely a special grade, he realistically reached that potential when he acquired Shrine, a special-grade technique and the more Black Flashes he lands against Sukuna, the better he'll be able to understand it.

So there is special grade sorcerers and "special grade candidates". The latter is a term I coined up to make my opinion make sense. We have 4 special grade sorcerers. Yuki, Gojo, Geto, Yuta We also have 4 special grade candidates. Hakari, Higuruma, Uraume, Kashimo Out of the 8 people I mentioned. Yuji can beat Higuruma and maybe Hakari in a battle of attrition and soul damage. He'd take it high difficulty but could still win. Everyone else mops him though. Uraume is just a monster Kashimo is just a bad match up in base and even more so using Mythic Beast Amber Yuta already clears Yuji with or without Rika Geto and 6000 cursed spirits overwhelms and defeats Yuji Gojo is freaking Gojo😂😂 Yuki is the reason why Yuji is now so knowledgeable on the soul to beginnwith😅... He also doesn't beat her in hand to hand... So there ya have it... Yuji scales badly to special grades and the respective "candidates"... So he, in my opinion, is the equal to Kusakabebas the strongest grade 1❤

I feel the "take down a nation" thing is the most important aspect of determining a special grade. If you look at Gojo or Yuki or Sukuna you can see that undenyably they have overwhelming destructive compacity to just flat wipe all life in an area. It may take time to wipe an entire country depending on size, but they can. No amount of force or push back can stop them short of another sorcerer or socerers on or near that level. HOWEVER!! Strength alone does not a special grade make. If you look at someone like Maki you can see that with her speed, strength, and endurance not even a clan of Grade 1 sorcerers are enough to stop her, given the proper cursed tools. I'm not sure if I'd consider her in the Special Grade tier, especially since she's not a sorcerer, but she's firmly over Grade 1. Geto may not be able to take on Toji/Maki in a 1v1; and Principal Yaga definitely couldn't. With that in mind Yaga still could meet the requirements to be Special Grade because his ability to make an army. Yaga isn't a power house in terms of destructive capacity; but he would be able to potential defeat Japan's armed forces with his cursed technique (excluding any sorcerers). To that point Geto could easily overwhelm a nations armed forces with his stored curses. Yuta has the endurance, versatility, and strength to also overwhelm. Though he's not quiet got the destructive capacity of Gojo (or even Yuki) nor the sheer numbers of Geto (or Yaga) he's still a major threat with emense potential. I think Yuta is probably on the lower end of the Special Grade scale if we're judging by ability to fight a national army and win. He can likely tank their heavest artillery and destroy key locations, but not just walk in a destroy indiscriminately to level of Yuki, Gojo, or Sukuna. I don't believe the same can be said about Yuji or even Hakari. They may be able to sustain a lot of damage, and do well in a fight, but can they wipe a city block in one move? Could they be vastly outnumber and take out wave after wave of troups while being constantly bombarded by a barrage of bullets, missile, etc.? Yuji probably exists in the space above Grade 1 but below Special Grade alongside Maki and Toji, but I don't think he has the showings to be placed in the same tier as Gojo or Sukuna.

He is not special grade tho. Special grade means you are capable of taking over a country, is not just a strenght level thing. Every special grade had huge destructive power capabilities, Gojo Hollow purple, Yuki her gravity manipulation, Yuta Rika. Yuji just kicks and punches really hard

I think trying to work out the exact, in universe, criteria for special grade that the school uses (esp when it's a 10 min sidetrack in the video lol) is kind of pointless. The characters themselves have, in canon, talked about how corrupt, outdated, and frankly trash the ranking system is multiple times. It doesn't really matter what the exact criteria is, it's just a plot device to help the viewer scale power roughly. Yuji is obviously in that power tier now. But then, I would also say characters like Uro and Ishigori were too by modern time standards. "Special" to me implies they're different than your average grade 1 in a way that elevates them to that next level, usually by having a unique CT or traits that makes them a serious threat, a strength beyond the norm amongst the sorcerers of the time. Yuji definitely is that with his RCT and soul abilities now, plus having a very good, legendary CT on top of that.

I'd say that the special grade is given to thouse who have undeniable power at all times and high amounts of curse energy at all times. Maki isn't special grade because she lacks the curse energy part. Hakari isn't special grade because he lacks power at all times, he can go agains a special grade and win but only if he is on a role otherwise he is a very high grade 1 maybe even special grade 1 (the same rank as Naobito) but not special grade. So right now Yuji might be lacking in the curse energy part, we don't know if he has enough curse energy to be compared to any special grade but in power he has more than enough.
