Exclusive & breathtaking content! We invite you to discover the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Hybris Mechanica Calibre 185 filmed in 4K with a macro lens. Matthieu Sauret, Product Marketing & Heritage director of Jaeger-LeCoultre, will present you this incredible watch. This Reverso is the result of over six years of development, combining key areas of savoir-faire with innovative new astronomical indications. It is on top the world’s first wristwatch with four functioning display faces. By incorporating three displays of lunar information on the interior face of the iconic Reverso cradle (the synodic cycle, the draconic cycle and the anomalistic cycle), the Hybris Mechanica Quadriptyque can predict the next global incidence of astronomical events such as supermoons and eclipses - the world’s first wristwatch to provide such a deep reading of the cosmos.
We are also proud to have our partner Vontobel provide us with in-depth industry knowledge, featured in their latest "Swiss watch industry outlook". You can find it here: bit.ly/3mw6WEN
The four key points of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Hybris Mechanica Calibre 185 (Quadriptyque)
1. The world’s first watch with four faces; the most complicated Reverso timepiece ever made...
2. A total of 11 complications, including perpetual calendar, minute repeater, indications of the synodic, draconic and anomalistic cycles (never before presented together in a wristwatch), requiring 12 patents...
3. Combines Jaeger-LeCoultre’s uncontested mastery of chiming watches, precision mechanisms, astronomical complications and ultra-compact watchmaking...
4. User-friendly design and construction; the most complicated Reverso is also one of the easiest to wear...
With 188 years of relentless innovation and savoir-faire behind it, Jaeger-LeCoultre continually sets new boundaries in the domain of fine mechanical watchmaking. Its Hybris Mechanica series of ground-breaking, ultra-complicated timepieces has established a constellation of stars shining with unparalleled brilliance in the horological heavens. In 2021, the latest addition to this celestial assemblage is a grand oeuvre six years in the making - the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Hybris Mechanica Calibre 185 Quadriptyque, the first watch in the world with four faces of timekeeping indications.
Since the advent of personal timepieces, the quest to build increasingly complicated watches is constrained by the volume of space available to the watchmaker. Having a multitude of complications in a watch is pointless unless they can be legibly and comprehensibly displayed, and the watch can be reasonably worn. Liberated by the unique design of the iconic Reverso, Jaeger-LeCoultre has created a world’s first: a double-faced case continuously driven by the in-house Calibre 185, and a double-faced cradle with indications synced and updated by the primary movement every day at the stroke of midnight by an ingenious mechanical system proprietary to Jaeger-LeCoultre.
If executed through conventional mechanical means, the 11 complications of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Hybris Mechanica Calibre 185 Quadriptyque would result in a timepiece far more suited for a desk than a wrist. Thanks to nearly two centuries of expertise and a thoroughly modern approach to innovation, Jaeger-LeCoultre tells the story of cosmic and terrestrial time within the confines of a 51mm by 31mm by 15mm case, a story told in four chapters of horological virtuosity.
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Hybris Mechanica Calibre 185 comes in an exceptional presentation box with a built-in mechanism that allows the wearer to quickly and intuitively set all the calendar and astronomical displays of the watch after a period of being unworn.

The kind of engineering and craftsmanship that go into this kind of watch is just far too great for my simple brain to really comprehend; a true "Wonder" indeed. @WatchAdvisor if the moonphase mechanism is "updated" everyday at midnight (which already is such a brilliant idea!) I just have one question: What happens if at midnight the main body of the watch has been slid out and so the mechanism between the main movement and the moonphase are not connected? For example at 25:15 in the video...
@amaktoomjan
@amaktoomjan 2 жыл бұрын
@@testgatm6964 I had that question on my mind as well. I thought, well better not keep it like that. Simpler solution would be to turn a day back without putting the main movement in the cradle, then once in the cradle, set to the present time again.

This is no watch, it's a wearable mechanical computer. It's a lesson of watchmaking and craftsmanship. It's an orchestra of plates, wheels, cogs, and screws that plays a beautiful and never ending valse of rotating hands and dials. Never before have I seen such a singularity of art and engineering, how is this watch even physically possible? JLC is truly the pinnacle of high horology, period.

What is so wonderful is how Mr. Sauret talks about this $1 million plus work of art and engineering in such a engaging and accessible manner. He knows of course that only 10 very wealthy people will own one but he makes you feel like it really belongs to all of us. Compare that to the watch snobs out there who put down others they have never even met just because they said they prefer say a Seamaster to a Submariner. This conversation puts the watch hobby in perspective in so many ways. Well done!

My favorite specs of this Reverso: - At midnight, every day, the information from the main watch transfers to the moon phase... Also, I would think the "4" on the top-right of the first dial face would indicate that this is supposed to be a leap year, no? If so, I think they had it set wrong, as 2020 was a leap year, (4) and so 2021 should be "1" (if I understand correctly!)

The box with the ability to set the piece is a brilliant companion for the watch. For those with a few spare million down the back of the sofa this is a no brain purchase with only 10 pieces. I owned a JLC master calendar with a jumping date function at 6 oclock from watches and wonders 2020 and to see this innovation makes me a proud owner of JLC timepiece. This is such a high horology piece from JLC next to their westminster gyrotoubillion perpetual calendar minute repeater. 👏🏻

This was to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Reverso... It took JLC six years to develop & build the watch... For the 100th anniversary though I am sure they are already working on the next masterpiece...

@@chuiwyjustin doesn’t really matter? Well if you’re going down that rabbit hole, Rolex shouldn’t bother either since not many people can get hold of one....Luxury is about giving you more than you need and pushing the boundaries otherwise we’d just be wearing a Casio F91. Rolex MAY be the luxury watch that everyone knows about, but it’s nowhere near the best watch company out there....not by a long way
@chuiwyjustin
@chuiwyjustin 3 жыл бұрын
@@adamcrossfire4747 i think u missed the point here. Luxury is purely and only about showing your wealth. It doesn't matter how advanced or complex a watch is, if no one recognises it, then there's really no point buying a luxury watch.

@@chuiwyjustin AP themselves admitted this was THE watch in the comment section. It just depends on who you’re trying to impress. Laymen only know Rolex, while watch enthusiasts (and watchmakers themselves) know JLC.
