When Alyssa's husband Aenys ruled, he decided to marry his son Aegon the Uncrowned to his daughter Rhaena. This caused rebellion from the faith of the seven. Cause incest. When Maegor became king he married his niece Rhaena after killing Aegon. Maegor also had to constantly put down rebellions from the faith. Alyssa didn't want her children to marry because she thought the faith would rebell again.

@@GalicianGranddaughter666 Oooh ok that makes sense. Iwas confused cus at this point the Targs were already ruling Westoros & practicing incest so I figured Westoros was used to it by then.

@@sonya5132 When Aegon conquered Westeros he was already married and there wasn’t much they could do. Aegon didn’t have daughters so his son married a Velaryon. The faith expected the incest and polygamy to stop there. But the incest didn’t. They only came to terms with it when Jaehaerys manipulated the election of the high septon and put them in their place.
