This week's mission focuses on removing two different sounders from an urban business center in Columbus, Georgia. Watch Hog Control Operators® remove both sounders using the same M.I.N.E.® Trapping System location, expending only 2.75 hours of labor. Following our Capture Success Matrix® produced whole-sounder results during two different moon phases.

I love how you embrace technology and science to address this huge problem with an invasive species. Pigs are smart, but humans are smarter, and we must use this intelligence and technology to address natural selection, within the confines of laws and practicality.

Well done Sir. An interesting method of work as distinct from the common method seen in so many pig control videos. Getting intel on what may happen in a location certainly seems to work well and also saves a lot of wasted effort.

Good stuff! Pro tip: having a dog with you when setting up a trap can leave scent that keeps hogs away from the area.

Sophie (Rod's French Bulldog) is a 9-year-old professional who has been trained not to use the bathroom near a bait site or trap site. Also, urban pigs smell humans and dogs on a daily basis. This is one of the reasons urban pigs are much easier to condition and trap than rural pigs.

Remember that addressing the feral hog issue requires a multifaceted approach involving cooperation between farmers, conservationists, and policymakers. Let’s work together to mitigate their impact and protect our ecosystems!

I think the future of feral hog trapping will be a bait station with bait laced with sodium nitrite that will be dispensed by an AI control system. It will be able to distinguish between feral swine and other animals and so will only dispense the bait for the hogs (not for deer and other animals). That will be more efficient and less costly than traditional trapping because it won't require as much human involvement and the set up and retrieval of the station will be more simple. The pigs won't be captured in the same manner but will meet the same fate.
@JAGERPRO
@JAGERPRO 3 ай бұрын
We also believe toxicants will be a future tool in a Hog Control Operator's toolbox; but it will NOT be more efficient and less costly than the product and process observed in this video. Current field trials conducted by Texas A&M using warfarin-based toxicants and USDA APHIS Wildlife Services in Texas and Alabama using sodium nitrite demonstrate two weeks of feeding an expensive placebo to condition feral pigs to use a species-specific bait delivery system before administrating the actual toxicant. Preliminary toxicant costs are also very expensive. The expense of purchasing placebo and toxicant must take place at each bait site for every sounder monthly while the expense of purchasing a M.I.N.E. Trapping System only happens once and will last for 15-20 years of field use. There is no published data for toxicant success rates while the Hog Control Academy has published 97.18% capture success rates using our product and process on a 36-month project. We agree that JAGER PRO AI cameras will definitely reduce human involvement in future trapping and toxicant Best Management Practices (BMP's), but it still remains to be seen whether toxicants are more efficient and less costly than our current trapping product and process. All eyes are watching Texas now as the warfarin-based "Kaput Feral Hog Bait" was registered for use by licensed pesticide applicators in Texas on 01 FEB 2024 once the bait becomes available later this spring. We predict Texas farmers will fail at resolving their feral pig problems for one or more of the below reasons: 1. Farmers will not follow the toxicant label (Best Management Practices) and will administer the product incorrectly (no different than current herbicide BMP's for removing Pigweed). 2. Product will not achieve the 90% sounder removal efficiency necessary to stay ahead of feral pig reproduction. 3. Product will be too expensive for farmers to implement correctly.

What happens to the processed meat?
@JAGERPRO
@JAGERPRO 4 ай бұрын
Pigs are killed inside the trap enclosure because it is illegal in most states to transport feral swine alive or sell the meat. The US Department of Agriculture does not allow wild pork donations directly to food banks due to swine brucellosis and the pseudorabies virus. Feral swine can be eaten, but it is very important to thoroughly cook wild pork to 165 degrees. Most feral pigs harvested by JAGER PRO® Hog Control Operators™ are either processed by guests or donated to local families and churches for food.

For the same reason you do not let juvenile rats, cockroaches or termites go free when performing pest control in your home. Feral pigs are not native to North America and create $2.5 billion of annual damage in the United States.
