This week’s mission will focus on removing a sounder from a subdivision within Columbus, Georgia. This scenario happens annually with Urban Hog Control as homeowners begin seeing rooting damage in their yard during October when acorns begin falling. Watch how Hog Control Operators® remove a dominant boar creating chaos during a whole-sounder capture.

He’s definitely the best of explaining the need to eliminate the entire sounder and how to do it. It seems like everybody else out there are trying to “reinvent the wheel,” and watching them is just watching an act of futility, as they never do eliminate the problem, even temporarily.

I could totally see someone turning this into an animated dramatic story. Mom tryna find food while preg with her family. They find a new place but Dom wont let them eat. Rumors spread that Dom was killed and give them a brief hurrah. Then theyre all trapped for 1 final meal. The possibly killed surviving boar was told to run away and experience a new life. While he runs he hears shots in the background and the final shrieks of his family. Then, he watches in terror from afar as his mom has her babies pulled out of her. Hes now an old survivor with a new sounder. Hes seen warning other pigs to stay away from traps. Only for his them to laugh and ridicule his story.

It’s always great to see a new video from you! Good job! Dom was a little bully. “Necropsy” is the wrong term to use on removing the fetuses. Necropsy would be the cause of death of an animal, which in this case is a bullet. “Dissection and removal” would be better.

@alan30189 - You are correct that the term "necropsy" refers to the dissection of an animal carcass to determine why they died. We still believe this is the correct term for our post-mortem feral pig examinations since we are observing various organs (heart, lungs, brain, etc.) for optimum wound channel damage caused by various bullet calibers, grains and types, bullet pass-through (or not) of shoulders/craniums, stomach content research to verify our seasonal strategies are efficient to the current food source along with total number of unborn fetuses.

@ Jager Pro, Hi to Rod & Lance, For Urban trapping Operations where using a 308 isn’t feasible. Is a possible solution a nitro 505 crossbow with Grim Reaper broad head and LED fletches. Quite powerful doesn’t disrupt urban customers and the anti gun/ hunting lobby. Keep up the excellent vids cheers from New Zealand.

Absolutely! Providing it is legal in New Zealand, we recommend mounting a night vision or thermal optic on the crossbow for effective night operations.

well done sir, we'll done. you didn't mention how many female fetuses there were. that would've shown the new head count in the upcoming months had the sounder not been removed. 👍
@JAGERPRO
@JAGERPRO 7 ай бұрын
Great point! Often, fetuses are not developed enough to determine their sex, so this is not data we can reliably collect. Our Harvest Efficiency Report tracks data such as date, trap location, number of juveniles (male vs. female), number of subadults (male vs. female), number of adults (male vs. female), number of pregnant females, number of fetuses per pregnant female, removal efficiency (number killed vs. number in sounder), weight of each pig and total labor hours expended for sounder removal. Sometimes we also collect blood and fecal samples for government or academic disease testing.

Has the population been reduced at all in GA, or does it continue to rise?
@JAGERPRO
@JAGERPRO 7 ай бұрын
Yes, on specific projects. It only takes 15-18 months for a trained and certified Hog Control Operator™ to eliminate feral pig populations from 10,000-15,000 acres. But there are several factors which determine how long a property remains at "zero balance" after a successful Integrated Wild Pig Control® (IWPC®) program has been implemented. Future reproduction and migration would have to come from adjacent properties since an effective IWPC® program would prevent escapes, method education and reproduction from the entire generation of feral pigs living on the property. Are neighboring landowners implementing a successful IWPC® program? Are there enough trained and certified Hog Control Operators™ in the county to effectively implement the IWPC® program? Has the state passed legislation to stop intrastate and interstate transportation of feral pigs? How well are law enforcement personnel enforcing these rules in the state? Are judges and the court system prosecuting those breaking the rules with heavy fines? How many criminals are illegally transporting and releasing new feral pig populations in the county? The amount of time a property remains at "zero balance" greatly depends on the answers to the above questions. The feral swine problem will ultimately be resolved across the United States when we scale product sales and training/certification to several million pigs removed annually concentrating on whole-sounder success.

Has anyone ever thought of bringing in wild African painted dogs to control the hog infestation in America? If they have a supply of wild boar as a food source they presumably would not go after domesticated livestock. A lot of study would need to go into this, of course, but could it work?
@JAGERPRO

I don't believe the answer lies in bringing in another non native, invasive species to control a non native, invasive species. Seems like it would bring nothing but additional problems.

A PigBrig® trap would have had the whole sounder that first night. The entire perimeter of the trap gives entry, and there is no exit for any pig that enters. A PigBrig® trap also doesn't require monitoring or remote triggering.

Our last 36 months of research at the Flint River Project produced only 65% trapping success using a Pig Brig, but 97% success using a JAGER PRO M.I.N.E. Trapping System as observed in this video. Both research and experience demonstrate a 35-foot diameter, human-activated corral trap outperforms a 20-foot diameter, passive net trap. Your comment suggests you have been drinking their marketing Kool-Aid without experiencing any real field data using the product.
