Today we elucidate the deeds of the cunning and merciless 1st Captain of the Night Lords: Jago Sevatarion.
Known as 'Sevatar' amongst the Adeptus Astartes, the Prince of Crows would be regarded as fierce warrior almost without peer.
Commanding the Atramentar and Kyrptera of the 8th Legion, Sevatar would flay and skin his enemies in service to his Primarch Conrad Curze.

In a way, Sevatar is an anomaly among the Night Lords. Night Lords are cowardly by Space Marine standards. They prey upon the weak and flee when strong foes face them. They enjoy torment, but do not fight fairly. They are not known for their martial prowess, innate stubbornness, or extreme precision. Yet, to be able to face the greatest swordsman in the Legiones Astartes and fight him to a standstill, one would need a good deal of all of these traits. Perhaps that's why Sevatar was the Night Lords' last great First Captain.

I disagree. Cowards are PUNKS like the Space Wolves, who revel in murdering unarmed civilians, simply because they have the power to murder them, and be praised for it, by the CORPSE EMPEROR; and you think Jago was the only great Night Lord? I guess that means you don't know who Zso Sahaal is.

I would say the nightlords fight the way that many are afraid to. Fighting without concern or remorse and being true killers. They are what you fear and keep those in check that would otherwise fall. Being willing to do what the other legions didn't have the stomach to do. So while they are evil, the emperor saw they're purpose as enforcers and deterants.

They are no more cowards than other marines (And they shall know no fear!). They simply prefer the fights that puts them at an advantage. Honor is nothing to a Night Lord. If there is a risk of defeat they will retreat and bide their time until they can stab their enemy in the back.

What amazes me the most about Jago is his sense of humor. Being a true leader (because Kurze was a leader in genetic way, and Jago was Legion's "life of the party") of a Legion full of psycho superhuman thugs, cutthroats and scumbags and still be capable of joking, especially the way he does it, is fantastic.

This dude, while dying to long term complications from a botched brain surgery that he psychically tore open, discovered that a young child had been beaten until her spine broke by her master, for attempting to commune with, and render aid to Jago Sevatar. In response to this, he fights his way to the bridge of the Invincible Reason, the flagship of the Dark Angels chapter and personal vessel of the Lion, without armour, successfully, to slowly garotte said master to death with his own whip. In front of the entire bridge crew, and multiple squads of the pride of the 1st legion. And then just surrenders. The only reason Jago was on the Invincible reason in the first place, was because he rode a Navy fighter-bomber craft through an active legion-scale warzone in space, so he could use it to Dynamic Entry onto the bridge of the Invincible Reason, before accounting for a third of the Dark Angels casualties alone. This dude beat Sigismund in his prime. Before he got Psychic powers to move stupid fast. Dark Eldar tier 'moving too fast for human perception to be anything but teleport' fast. For all his sadisms and pleasure in causing casual torment or trickery, the man was genuinely admirable. Enemy Marines respected him. Night Lords respected him and actually obeyed his orders for the sake of it. He instilled discipline, structure, and order to a Legion that genuinely struggled to do anything they didn't already enjoy doing. When Curze (or anyone else) went on a self-pitying rant or gave excuses for their behavior, Sevatar was always the person to call their bullshit. When Curze was being useless and letting the legion die, Sevatar took over and almost singlehandedly saved it. He's almost a Ciaphas Cain figure, for an Astartes. He's both mighty as a warrior, and admirable as a person, while never trying to showcase his abilities to to others, and never really thinking much about being admirable.
@domc9801

He didn’t really beat Sigismund, in his eyes it was a win but he cheated stating he never said he’d agreed to the rules, they fought all day and he may have been getting annoyed at fighting him for several hours or found cheating was the only way to break the deadlock, he is one the best but he HAD to cheat to get that “win”, it’d be a longer stalemate. And yes I love Sigi but I’m not gonna discredit or say Sevatar was bad(outside of night lord standards) but I won’t say it goes to Sigismund either for he in that same vein “lost” to a illegal head butt but it was in a oddly good spirit. Sevatar was the best of any Night Lord as Khorne was to the World Eaters both in body and mind, which places him above his primarch in my opinion.

In my headcanon I want to think that Sevatarion went so mad that he became a loyalist and after proving that he was telling the truth (probably with some psyker BS idk) he goes on to found the Carcharodons Chapter by using loyalist nightlords, their Geen-seed characteristics match up with the Nightlords and their founder is known as the "Forgotten one". The reason the space sharks roam the void is for Atonement for betraying the imperium during the Horus Heresy or at least that would be a dame good reason as to why they are out there.

Fun fact, the Ultramarines stole the idea of painting their armour red as a sign of sensor. In 30k the ultramarines would paint their helms red, like the Nightlords would their hands. Then during the HH that sign became a symbol of leadership after the battle of Calth.
@gamechanger8908
@gamechanger8908 Жыл бұрын
I thought the Ultramarines painted their helmet red to mark themselves as a Sergeant and to honor Aeonid Thiel, since Thiel a sergeant during the Horus Heresy painted his red to distinguish himself from his brothers. While the Nightlords painted their gauntlets red when they have considered themselves guilty in the eyes of Curze.
@Dustbinlid1
@Dustbinlid1 Жыл бұрын
@@gamechanger8908 In Know No Fear, we are told that the Red helm is a sign of sensor. The Marine in question was caught doing theoreticals on Marine vs Marine combat, a big no no. After Calth though, because of the actions of the marine the red helm is seen as a sign of distrinction as you mentioned. In Prince of Crows, Sevetar is thinking about his red gloves and he notes how the Ultramarines have adopted the custom but paint the helms not the gloves. He also notes that for the Ultramarines it's just a sign of sensor, but for the Nightlords it's a literal death sentence and the marine is just waiting for the execution to happen.

I'm kind of new to this whole Warhammer 40K but I've come across some interesting Lord involving this guy. Apparently after his return to Tera he was solely held responsible for the betrayal of his entire chapter, despite the fact that yes he did turn traitor he then turned back to a loyalist. After finding him guilty they put him in the great jails underneath the imperial Palace for 10,000 years until his body gave out, after which the highlights of terror thought that death was too easy of a release for him so they decided to lock him in a dreadnought body that has no weapons. This gave rise to another legend called The legend of the anchorite, the very same anchorite that when an attack on the imperial Palace was caused by forces of chaos, and they weren't just there to kill the emperor they were actually there for him. Upon coming close enough to his cell that cannot be open except for five lock wardens or the emperor himself, that door swung open and he walked out in his new dreadnought body and laid waste to all chaos forces in front of him. He's still alive He's just not caught savitar anymore, he's only known as the anchor right now, the great steel century of the emperor.

If ever Sevetar is alive BUT is loyal to the imperium due to being saved by that female astropath.... acha... a loyal night lord from the original founding eh? would be nice, getting hunted by both the loyals and the heretics alike...
