Raj, a poor peasant from the village, goes to the city in search of work. When he fails to find any, he spends his days and nights on the pavements. One night to quench his thirst he enters an apartment complex. There he is mistaken for a thief and is chased around by the residents and the police. However, while moving around the different flats in the complex, Raj sees all kinds of immoral acts being committed by the residents. Will Raj be able to escape?

Recently been watching Raj Kapoor and Nargis movies purely by coincidence as Amazon Prime have recently featured their films. Such amazing films and each and every one of them have such amazing life lessons. From Shree 420, Awaara, Mother India, and this film. I still remember as a young boy my parents used to watch all of these films and purchased most of the films soundtracks on cassette. I still have memories of my mum singing these songs while cooking. The funny thing is that when these films popped up on Prime I found myself humming and signing some of the songs without even thinking about it. True masterpieces live in your heart forever. 👍🏽❤️🙏🏽

This is not a just a movie .. its essence is very deep in every sense ...was thirsty but couldn't find a drop in the cement jungle instead was blamed for stealing...Finally the message if you are true by heart then you need not to afraid ...be fearless and move toward the path of life ... eventually you will get that water which will quench your thirst....Jago re ....

छोटे बच्चों के प्रति जो वात्सल्य पुरानी मूवी पैदा कर पाती थीं वह आज नहीं रहा। आज सब कुछ दिखावा जैसा रह गया है अंदर से भावनाएं पैदा नहीं कर पाता। समाज में बढ़ता हुआ क्राइम सिनेमा ने और बढ़ाया है अधिकांश पुरानी फिल्मों में हमें नैतिकता की ओर रास्ता दिखाया जाता था आजकल वह चीज पीछे छूट गई है कहानी के अंत में ईश्वर की शरण में जाना लगभग हर पुरानी फिल्म की बात हुआ करती थी जो हमारी असल जिंदगी के लिए भी एक आशा और विश्वास को पैदा करने वाली चीज हुआ करती थी आज वह खत्म हो गई है

I have only lately saw this movie , repenting as to why I did not see it earlier. Commercially such a type of film may not be a success because it has depicted the evils and corruption in our system . But these are realities which is true to great extent even today . The last song 'Mohan pyare jago ' is a landmark song in the hindi film industry , a composition , music direction and presentation all par excellence

This film was a collaborative effort between Bombay film industry led by the great raj kapoor and ka Abbas and the great talent in Bengal theatre...director sombhu mitra is a legend in indian theatre and many artists like Pahari Sanyal ,pradeep kumar,chhobi biswas( only in Bengali version) r the cream of Bengali cinema at that time...this film was also made in a Bengali version called ' ek din raatre' .... definitely a great classic ....my father used to tell me of this great joint Bengal+ Bombay effort , however in my childhood I cdnt manage to see this film...my dad passed away in 2013...however thanks to internet and KZfaq I have now seen both the versions of this classic...I wish if my father would have been alive today he would have been elated...thank you to the uploader from the bottom of my heart!!

Whatever you think , is not correct regarding Raaj saab's trck.because Kapoor was a biggest artist in Indian cinema in sense of thought ,well direction and challanging roll as rustic,gentle and prudent.this's why he is called great show man in Bollywood.he didn't make movie to only earn money rather he tried to show the vast critical problems in society also.this film is the true example of this specimen for his greatness in this way ..dp Raahi An Unique author.
