No question about it. E Type Jags are the prettiest cars ever designed. They are so easy on the eyes. Having owned a 1962 FHC and a 1966 Roadster in my younger years those were very special days. Unfortunately they are a nightmare to maintain. I'm so happy for the experience but two is enough. I still have a place in my heart for these gorgeous machines.

Whoever came up with this idea at Jaguar needs to be applauded. I wish other manufacturers of accepted sportscar classics would do the same thing.

There are many companies who specialize in E type restoration, and have been doing superb work for decades, JD Classics, Eagle E Type, and Classic Motor Cars, all located in England. This high quality standard has been achieved by these and many other firms. This interviewer doesn't seem to know much!

Yeah. Because having the "OEM" RE-DO SHIT WORK ON SHITTY "SPORTS CARS" WHICH EVEN IN SEEMINGLY "EXCELLENT" UNRESTORED "SURVIVOR" CONDITION ACCORDING TO THE OEM "NEED" TO BE "REBORN" INSTEAD OF CONCENTRATING ON ITS "NEW" VEHICLES AND THEIR MYRIAD AND MONEY-SUCKING "BIRTH DEFECTS" THEY HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO EVER PRODUCE A "NEW" VEHICLE MODEL WITHOUT NO MATTER HOW MANY YEARS OR DECADES THEY WERE/ARE IN "MASS PRODUCTION" IS SUCH AN OBVIOUSLY "BRILLIANT" BUSINESS AND MARKETING AND PROFIT-MAKING "SCHEME".

For a man doing automotive journalism, you'd expect him to have more knowledge about such an iconic sports car. Being one of if not the most important Jaguar made for the road most interviewers would have enough knowledge of cars and specifically the E Type to not sound so novice with his questions and comments.

Amazing quality to remake these cars. I just completed a 625 mile drive in my 1968 OTS E Type throughout SE Arizona. Nothing but fun for sure, the factory cars had 185x15 tyres, I'm running 205x70x15 with an EDIS ignition system which is a big step above the D22 dizzy. Triple SUs HD8s provide nothing but power & smiles.

What a shame that they were not made of aluminum and that Jaguar had the attitude to sell at a low price and minimum quality rather than high price maximum quality , now they have got it right instead of trying to be the cheapest on the market .

Classic cars in Autogefühl, I appreciate it. Now I understand why Thomas likes Jaguar. Cars like the E type, XJ-S, XJ are really outstanding. I think however that these cars should not be equipped with animal skin anymore. No animal should be killed, for no reason! How can I be happy and smile knowing I am sitting on a dead animal?

Typical German mentality: "What is the power output exactly?" No mention of the romance and enjoyment of the most beautiful car ever made. That's why Germans gave us the Porsche, and the Brits gave us the E-Type. Just what is the big deal here? Indy shops have been restoring cars in far worse shape for years, hand making panels, etc. This is nothing new.

it's compelling styling that has the performance to match its sexy looks? Face it, the styling is positively phallic. No other car like it. And you got speed and handling comparable to a Porsche or Ferrari costing a lot more.

Beautiful but will anyone ever drive them? They are now too valuable. Remake 10,000 and flood the market - reduce their value - and everyone will actually drive them on the roads again :)

Jim Head Hi i was using one as recently as 4 yrs back as a shopping car being left in shopping centre car park. it depends on the era, i grew up in an era where they were just cheap second hand Jag's. My father bought a flat floor 1961 Roadster for $2800 AUST as a 11 years old car in 1972. & i bought my second one in 2001 for $36000 AUST, & used it. Half the pleasure of cars is being able to drive them. but with prices being what they are today i can understand the fear involved with using them.

Jim Head My parents did a deal, she got a 15 yrs old house for £4000, he got a 18 months old E type for £2000 that was in 1965. It then took 25 yrs to pay off. lol I was a bit luckier did 50 hour working week with 9 hours driving a week, & sold first house with enough profit to buy another house, pay off morgage & buy E type. but in the last 17 yrs houses & E types have gone up 4 fold in price. A house here that cost $330000 17 yrs ago now is $1.2 million & an E type that was $36000 is now $120000. I feel sorry for younger people today as the housing market here is so hard to get into here now.

a lot of irrelevant questions were asked by this interviewer, i'd much rather like to know WHY jaguar is engaging in such an operation in the first place, something which basically could be done by any good classic restauration shop, anywhere in the world. why do they waste their time and resources? is an e-type restauration really THAT lucrative? do they need to train their own employees? don't they have other things to do? i had heard about this program but i know as much about it now as i knew before watching this.

There will always be a market for these cars. To many people got to much money. Investment oppertunity. These car never see the road. Totally oppersite to what it was built for. If you got money you can buy anything. Jaguar just late getting on the band wagon as usual. Plenty good restoration company's doing these. These E types probably cost100 to 150.000 finished. Not exactly a market for your working man. These cars should be used daily and not babyed. Enjoy the cars. Just a bunch of people trying to create a market. But when it world market crashes these cars loose 100.000 over night. Not realy a investment. I say keep them original as possible. Drive um. And drive um hard. But nothing wrong up dating brakes and suspension etc etc. There's plenty suckers out there to buy these restored vehicles.
