In this video I'll show you how to fix Gearbox Fault on Jaguar X Type or Ford Mondeo mk3 Diesel
This fault occurs due to turbo vanes stuck in close position because of carbon deposit.
You might experiance the fault after you haven't start the car for couple of days.

I did this on my 2.2D manual a month ago. Had glow lamp flashing and limp mode. No more problems since

Matthew Jackson If you drive your car everyday than you shouldn’t have this problem.

​@@lsateam1491 a friend of mine has a mk3 mondeo 2.2 st tdci that's done 177k miles and never had an issue. The problem is short journeys and just pootling about without giving it a good thrash once and awhile. I was looking at getting the auto. Any good?

Dear @@lsateam1491, i have an Jaguar X-type 2005. It has 270.000 km on it. I drive my car everyday for like 50km. Do you think i should do what you said in the Video? Or should i break down the turbocharger/turbolader? Thank you in advance!

Very good video, which shows how far reach the form in turbocharger. I also used foam, but it did not go to the back side of vanes - - side where the VNT rotation control ring is. Do you have an idea for another - more liquid turbo soot cleaner ? Which could reach this control ring ? Thank you for your answer.

You can unbolt dpf and push a thin tube up and around into the turbo without drilling a hole into turbo, safer than drilling and cross threading a hole and then being stuck with it, remove actuator off the arm and wiggle it until free and then put dpf back on and start it up, takes about 1hour to do

Thinking of doing this to my 2.2 xtype but worried about bits of metal from drilling and tapping going into turbo

it wont go into turbo it will blow out towards the exhaust/catalytic converter. You can use a magnet to catch the small bits of metal if you like

It will keep you running. If you drive the car everyday this might be a permanent fix, now depend how bad is your turbo

LSA Team are they a decent sturdy box ? Looking at an x type as my daily driver, dont want to encounter loads of problems !

Kieran Hill The gearbox seems to be all right but the engine itself is very problematic. Lots of people complain about them. On the plus side the car it feels comfy specially on motorways.

Is this the same Jaguar that you took the turbo off to clean, I'm guessing it is because when I watched that video I noticed that you had already tapped the hole and put a bolt in, except that this video is newer than that one, so did yo do this first and it didn't work and then you took it off and cleaned it ?

Crab Apple it is the same jaguar. It worked first time. The only problem I’ve got was after 3 weeks of not starting the car it gave me the same error. Gearbox fault. I spray some more cleaner and it was fine. The reason why I took of the turbo was to see what is inside after doing the cleaning with mr. Muscle. And it wasn’t that bad.

@@lsateam1491 Yeah I've been thinking of doing the bolt tap mod for a while now but not been brave enough lol. My cars fine at the moment and after using turbo cleaner in the air inlet but its a 2008 car and probably has never been cleaned so I'm tempted to do it to stop it ever getting all gunged up in the first place, prevention better than cure and all that.

Due to the drilling and thread drilling, the metal pieces and metal chips get into the house! It also makes a mistake!

! BEFORE DOING THIS ! Look if the actuator moves when you start the engine/ignite, if not buy one from ebay and replace, it's very easy, only three bolts and maybe a little bit of wd40 for the arm, try to move it to see if it moves smooth. My case: Took the actuator out, opened it and discovered an overheated micro controller, I heard the problem could also be a wire that disconnected inside, you can look for it if you're a good solder. Bought a new actuator from ebay, received it today and after replacing every thing is working like before!
