Great video. Very helpful. Thank you. Don't forget to replace the cable ties securing the wiring loom and window regulator cables (as I did!), or you will hear the cables rattling in the door cavity when driving.

The front left window of my 2011 Jaguar XF stopped working and was stuck in upward (closed) position. After the dealer quoted ridiculous amount to change the windows regulator, I decided to DIY it and then came across this video. This video was very helpful. I ordered a window regulator from Amazon which was from a chinese brand. It looked slightly different than the original OEM one but the part number was matching and the price was 1/3 of the Jaguar's. Since it was from amazon and had free return, I decided to go for it. For this, I was a bit hesitant to do this DIY as it required removing the glass and I was afraid I would drop it and break it.!!! But It turns out the window glass removal was not necessary. What I did was, I removed back regulator pillar (one near the door latch) of older window regulator first, and immediately put in the newer one, while the older front pillar (one near the door hinges) was still holding the glass window. Then I proceeded to remove the older front pillar and put in the newer one. This way there is no need to remove the glass. The window now goes up and down much smoother. :) Thanks a lot for making this video.

Excellent video. I’ve just finished replacing the same regulator on my car and your guide was a great help.

Great tutorial and explained the process for a 2010 XF Portfolio well. Add using a magnetic torx driver as the screws tend to fall in the door and getting the glass to clip back in is an art. If it helps, I replaced the regulator and motor, the window would raise once or twice, slow down then stop. I presumed the motor was overheating. The trick to raising, pre replacement was to tap the up button once a second to get it to raise; letting it rest for 10 seconds it it stopped. Thank you.

This fantastic video has saved me £1k. The o/s drivers window failed half way through a McD's drive through order - I had not got a clue what to do, having just retired money is tight so what to do? Quote from Jaguar Garage £1200 parts and labour. Watched this video, ordered a reclaimed part from Ebay for £89 and a couple of tools from Screwfix then just followed what the fantastic mechanic did in this video. I watched it bit by bit on a kindle as I did it and astonishingly (to me) it works perfectly. Everything ship-shape in the car as well. Just chuffed to bits and would stand the lads a few pints if only they lived closer!

This was perfect. Just one small issue-the new regulator comes with those glass clips at the very bottom-so I had to connect all the cables and power up the door-then disconnect everything again-to put them at half way to snap the glass back into place. Otherwise brilliant! Thank you

Hi - this is a great video to follow and I used this to start to change my window regulator today, but am stuck on a step (which is not there in this video) - my glass is in Down position - how to raise it up, I am struggling, it’s not going up enough to get to the white plastic clips to unclip the glass

I recommend replacing motor and the regulator together. Because when I go through all that and reinstall the motor is probably 10 years old? I think I want to buy this car just because how easy that looks compared to replacing the regulator in my Lincoln town car.

Great video! But what was the issue/symptoms before? My drivers window (LHD), is it going down all the way, stucks 5cm above the edge and I need to pull button couple of times to make it going up.

Passenger side no longer works, drivers side is slow. Is it usually just the regulator that fails or is it possible that the motor can be bad too? Thanks

XF not used for a month and passenger not going down. It moves a few millimeters down and up but that's all. Try to reset but still the same. I guess I will need to replace the regulator and possibly the motor. Was a bit worried how to do it but thankfully found your excellent video. Couple of questions (I know the video was posted a couple of years but hope you can still answer). 1 - is it easy to push the window down to unclip it from the plastic bracket. 2 - in my case could it be that battery got too low and possibly it could be sorted out by battery disconnection and re-connection Many Thanks and a great professional video -very few around - Well Done!
