I first heard of Adam on NPE years ago and never forgot him. As soon as they said his name and didn’t even mention Jaguars I was so excited to hear what he was up to. I’m so glad he’s still working with them.

I have been following and donating to this elephant orphanage for years! Such a beautiful mission. These people are heaven sent. ❤️ Absolutely heartbreaking that ivory selling is legal again. BARBARIC!!!!!

Actually, they DO still live near our southern border with Mexico. Jaguars have been spotted on wildlife cameras set up along the Rio Grande at the border with Mexico. In addition to being nocturnal hunters, Jaguars are solitary and avoid human contact. Thank you for this piece on Jaguars. We need to protect our wild animals.

I love 60 minutes. I especially love when they do segments on animals... and all my beautiful animals they've shown in this episode! The people that do these jobs are amazing! Also I really like this 60 Minutes correspondent, he really seems like he loves the animals too. he does a great job.

I look after the stray cats in my neighborhood. I said I'm show more compassion for each other than humans. They are grateful for the littlest of help.

We take care of the cats in our neighborhood too. We have 3 kittens and their mama in the house right now, she gave birth on our porch. All the neighbors are coming together to get the females spayed one at a time. At any given time you can open our door and they run to you! Even the feral ones come. The mama we have in the house was feral, we had to lure her in the house to take care of her babies. Now she wants love and pets constantly! It’s beautiful! They appreciate us more than our own children! Lol!

God bless you all. How do you start caring for stray cats. I don’t think I have many in my neighborhood I’ve only seen neighbors outdoor cats. Do you just put food out and wait and seen

@@carlindurfee7566 One of our former neighbors moved and left their cats so we started putting food out and in the winter I made plastic tubs into insulated cat houses. In our town there are a couple of places that are known for having many many feral cats where caring people go and leave food. If you’re wanting to help strays maybe you can ask around, I’m sure most towns have places like the ones here. The humane society/local veterinarians here work with people who catch the ones that can be caught and get them spay/neutered. Feeding the strays at your house isn’t always fun, they have trashed my outside furniture cushions and sometimes you can definitely smell them. Plus by putting food out we get raccoons that come and eat too! I’ll admit it’s fascinating watching the cats and raccoons eat together! Lol! We just live with it because I’m not going to let them starve! :)

That silverback story was upsetting. He should of left them on that island and brought more later on the island and let them live there where they were happy. They were just an experiment. So sad he didn’t protect them but played with there lives. He could have protected them💯 Makes me mad

Agree.😢 Why complete the bridge? How did their deaths benefit their future generations of this troup? The family of gorillas was living in the wild, happy healthy lives, not in a zoo. They could have continued on safely evolving on their side of the river, similar to the famously dramatic evolutionary story of how a troup of Banobo chimpanzees were separated by a great earthquake hundreds (possibly over a thousand) of years ago that created an enormous cravas that separated them. Ultimately the two groups evolved culturally quite differently.

@Lucrezia Vilante right I saw that in 2018, it said at the end. He lived quite a few years with cancer, though. I hope he put someone else in place to help grow the jaguar populations by reclaiming their habitat for them. He loved jaguars with all his heart and more, so I would imagine he did put someone in his place to do exactly that. RIP jaguar guy. .

I'm pleased to note I Found an update from 2021 about the Dude at the end story Releasing captive animals Back in to the Wild. Seems to be working. He has released 70 gorillas and a French Zoo has joined him with their gorillas who are now producing offspring together. (Helping the gene pool.) Plus, He has released a tremendous amount of other species in various locations. He is now being commended by animal conservationists for all the work he has done.

Once you have domesticated a wild animal and given it a home, then the animal is not wild anymore. The best thing to do is give them more space at home.

ok, this man can say whatever he wants at the end of the movie, but it was so obvious that these pampered gorillas couldn't survive meeting their wild congeners. In fact, this man, whom his gorillas so tenderly met and did not want to let go of their embrace, doomed them to certain death. As soon as I saw the bridge, it was obvious to me what was going to happen.

Jaguars can still be found in extreme southern New Mexico and Arizona and possibly still southern California and Texas. they used to be found in Nevada coastal California as far north as Monterey Bay. Also throughout much of the Southeast. They are very adaptable to differing environments, but not as much so as the Cougar.

That gorilla family being set loose in the wild was so sad. Predictably they didn't stand a chance .. I don't think the next group to arrive would either. There was a serial gorrilla killer in them bush !

I know you said jaguars don’t exist in the US anymore, but actually a handful still are found in northern Mexican states and, naturally, southern Arizona & New Mexico. A lone male dubbed ‘El Jefe’ has been spotted several times, both on cameras and by observers. Unfortunately for them, and so many other large animals, the border wall has really prevented the maintenance & growth of their home range. This includes jaguars plus the Mexican black bear subspecies, the rare Mexican wolf, Sonoran pronghorn, desert bighorn sheep, pumas, jaguarundi, ocelot, bobcat, mule deer & white-tailed deer Mexican subspecies, and so many more.

The only hope for Africa's future is for birth control to become popular. Something that would also help is industrial farming which would use less land and have greater output at a cheaper cost that would put small farmers out of business. A village full of small farmers is a wasteful use of land. The cities are exploding in size and need factories to employ people.

Jaguars are literally the strongest of the big cats & have the most powerful bite force of any of the big cats. Even though leopards are unbelievably strong they can't compare to jaguars in terms of skill & strength. Jaguars also hunt in water & can dive in order to catch fish & the caiman (a relative of alligators). Nothing can compare to seeing a wild Jaguar. They are incredibly beautiful creatures.

I have been fascinated by this documentary and I've also been sobbing since seeing the orphanage because the killing of adult elephants is now legal! It's the same thing that are precious orangutan orphanages because their Mothers are killed by poachers and it's not getting any better 😢😢

Re: the "Back to the Wild" segment, I was waiting for him to reveal that he himself would be going back to live in the wile while suggesting it for all humans, who, like the gorillas, don't get on well boxed up in civilization.
