Yeah, see the flavor text for a Shadow Pokémon was that it was a Pokémon that had its heart and emotions forcibly closed off to the world. Considering what you'd have to do in order to make that happen, especially since Pokémon wear their heart on their sleeve, it's pretty clear that some level of torture happened to the mons.

So I get that Jaiden was probably playing it up for drama, but some of the stuff she points out as strange aren't actually that odd in the game itself (1) The lab's purification chamber is meant to both, provide a backup in case of issues (like in Colosseum, when Cipher tried to attack Agate for the Relic Stone) and to more deeply understand the purification process. In gameplay, it also provides a way to passively open the hearts of Shadow Pokemon that aren't currently on your team, since you'll never be able to bring them all along at once (2) Vander knowing the location of Cipher's lab in the desert is because it's the same lab they used back in Colosseum. Mt. Battle, where Vander works, was attacked by them in that game, so they've been keeping an eye on it ever since, just in case (3) The guy on the SS Libra just points in the direction Team Snagem ran, not to the exact location where they're based. Even if he did point to the exact location, they were a large force in the first game, and the news was constantly broadcasting stuff about them and Cipher, including their base when it was bombed That's all just off the top of my head, and unless I'm forgetting something, Justy knowing where the SS Libra was located is the only really random one

According to Did You Know Gaming?, the region in Colloseum and XD, Orre, is based off of Arizona. So the Hawaii crack Jaiden made is not that far-fetched in this case. Also, officially, Shadow Pokemon are described as "Pokemon who had their hearts artificially closed off." So yeah, "abused" is a good way to describe it.

Pokemon XD was actually the first Pokemon game I ever played, and it was way more fun than any of the mainline entries. It actually had a story that wasn't just gym badges, be the best trainer, bla bla bla. It was also one of the few games where just about every battle forced you to battle with 2 Pokemon at a time instead of one, so there was significantly more strategy involved. Imagine going from that to mainline Pokemon and how disappointed I was in the stale tonal shift and the baby-ass easy gameplay that every other Pokemon game seems to have.

Re: Nuxtake on biased reviews. I think the bias people have problems with is the kind where the reviewer gets paid to have a specific opinion/take on the product. They may also be thinking about people who are biased, not because of what the product is, but what they think the product is and/or should be without having actually taken the time to try it out and forming any sort of opinion that is actually based on those experiences. I too very much enjoy reviewers who are passionate and care about the products they review, be it movies, games or anything else. Lets hear it for fans showing non-fans why they are fans of the things they like, doubly so since genuine fans are usually among the first to give valid criticisms of a product when it starts to get a little cash grabby or the people making it are phoning it in. Unless its a FIFA game of course, those guys will buy the same game over and over again with the kind of fanatic refusal to acknowledge the increasingly worn hamster wheel rate of progression seen in their game series normally only seen in the crowd who always buy next apple smart phone no matter what so called 'improvements' the developers add (or remove!).

I think I commented why on one or two of your vids on how he's a disturbing perv with no redeeming qualities. I loved Pokemon Coliseum and Gale of Darkness as a Kid, and frankly I think it would be a crime if Nintendo didn't find a way to bring those old games to the switch. Roughly said the same in a comment on Jaiden's vid, but I loved the games. True chads of those games were those able to catch and purify every last Shadow Pokemon and beat all the coliseums around Orre. Also if you want Dark, try Digimon Survive. It tends to have some pretty dark moments.
