This was a blessing because I used to work for a major bank that is with Fidelity so this made set up of my rollover account and brokerage account easy. Great video! I'm a nerd and like to extensively research things before I get involved with them. I've been highly considering a fidelity account, primarily because of their coverage of fractional shares on so many stocks. I have accounts with Robinhood and TD Ameritrade but, they each have their pros and cons. I feel like an account with Fidelity picks up the slack that the other two are leaving behind. Thank you so much for making all of these detailed videos about using Fidelity! I really appreciate all of the information that you're sharing, it has been very helpful in my research!

I have assets in Robinhood, but I think I’m gonna go ahead and open up a Fidelity, which seems to be the best to go with and then at some point in time there after I will begin the process of transferring from Robin Hood to Fidelity

That last part you checked the box "you're gonna pay all your taxes" ...I paused you video and sped by that part. Didn't check it because this is going to be my first investing app and I don't have anything subject to whatever that backup thing is (less than 33k/year and living alone). Do I have to change that back and is there a way to do so through the website or app?

Haha, brokerage accounts are free... why not have a 6th one? I now have accounts with Schwab, Vanguard, Fidelity, Robinhood, Morgan Stanley, and the Government TSP.

I liked your videos; I am thinking of applying to fidelity because I've seen your previous videos about it, and I really like it. However, you mentioned not for it to be a long-term commitment? Q: why do u have so many brokerage accounts, I can understand 2, but u have, Morgan Stanley, Schwab, Vanguard, + Fidelity? I understand diversification, but is it not better to build up more assets in 1 or 2 account instead?

Hey K Mque! I actually have 5: Robinhood, Morgan Stanley, Schwab, Fidelity, and Vanguard. - Vanguard was actually my first and I got a Roth IRA. I didn't know what I was doing and I opened it because that is who Graham Stephan recommended. But I honestly dislike their outdated interface and I am not using them for anything else. - I got Robinhood just because it was a free stock. Putting money on there makes me nervous since their customer service is non-existent. I don't use them. - I got the Morgan Stanley account just to get the Morgan Stanley AmEx Platinum. It's a free card for me since I am active duty military. When I close the card, I will close this account and pull out my minimum deposit. - Schwab going forward will be my swing trading and options trading account. - Fidelity going forward will be my long-term buy and hold investment account.

Great video as usual, Jake! I'm thinking of opening a brokerage account with Fidelity for the zero funds. The only hesitation I have is the distribution yields for the zero funds tend to be lower than other comparable funds. For example, Schwab's SWTSX's distribution yield is 1.63% (expense ratio of .03%) while FZROX's distribution yield is only 1.27%. Would that difference in distribution yield more than make up for the small fee with SWTSX? So, mathematically (assuming equal returns), would I be ahead paying .03% for the better distribution yield?

Hey Jeannette! You are probably correct. I haven't looked at this too closely. Generally, a total stock market index fund yields close to 10% a year in the long run. So the difference in the expense ratios (00.03%) are not really a factor for me. Go with the company you like the best!

I like Vanguard as a company and I like their funds, but their user interface sucks. Go with either Fidelity or Schwab. If you want to know who has the best interface and user interface, I think it is Schwab.

Great video. I was wondering how does fidelity handle the max contributions for the year when doing direct deposits for my paycheck. I plan on maxing out my IRA in the middle of December through direct deposit. Once maxed, I still would have one more paycheck deposited in my Roth but I would then be over the $6,000 limit for 2021. In this case, do you know what would happen?

Hi Jake. Just subscribed, great information. Unfortunately I'm late to the investing game when it comes to opening a Roth. (My age and income). What would you recommend as an alternative to roth for someone that doesn't qualify? I'm conservative and would like a passive approach. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for subscribing ryebread! If you want to open a traditional IRA with Fidelity, you can then buy either a total stock market index mutual fund with Fidelity like [FZROX]. You can buy index funds within any kind of investment account. It can be an ordinary brokerage account (no tax advantage), or an IRA/ESA/HSA (tax advantaged). The type of investment account you open only determines how you are taxed, but within the account you can buy anything you want: index funds, mutual funds, etfs, stocks, bonds, etc.

Hey Bob! I would open an account with Fidelity and then ask a rep for help with the process. There should not be a fee. As for any fractional shares you have with Robinhood, whole shares can transfer, fractional shares cannot. They would be sold and you would have to re-buy them. Best of luck!

Hey Ryan! Starting in December I will have 2 new series starting on my channel. In my Fidelity brokerage account account I will examine stocks individually that I will be long-term investing in. That portfolio will slowly grow as I add about $5K a month to it. In my Schwab Account I am going to start with $25K in cash on Jan 1 and then try and double it during the year from swing trading and options trading. I plan to document everything I do the entire year for people to follow. Stay tuned!

Hey Carol! If you sell a stock for a profit at any point in the year, you are required to file that on your annual taxes and pay taxes on the profit you made.

Hey HL! A Roth IRA has several advantages over a Roth TSP, one being you have complete control over it and two being you can take out contributions you put in at anytime because you already paid taxes on it. Generally, a Roth IRA is better, but it is limited since you can only contribute $6,000 a year.

For retirement account I think Fidelity is better for the fact that they have more mutual fund options. Can't go wrong with either.

Hey Xiao! I think Fidelity and Schwab are both excellent options! Once I make a platform tutorial for Fidelity, you can see for yourself which interface you enjoy more and would rather use. User experience is really the only difference between the two for me.

Hello, you must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident with a legal address within the 50 U.S. States or Puerto Rico. The only way for a non-US citizen to get an SSN, and therefore be able to open a Fidelity account, would be if you have a valid U.S. visa. Can't you just open a traditional brokerage account, invest all of your money into an index fund, and since you are not limited to the 7k cap of a ROTH IRA, you will earn money faster if you have the money to put into it? You can put 100K into a brokerage account, vs 7K per year in a ROTH, isn't that way better than a tax free roth?
