@@savio__sunny8367 It would be nice to see. But I still have my doubts about Jalen. But yes, if he does come out explosive it will be hard for teams to double him as hard with Sengun looming out there. I have my fingers crossed.

Glad you guys mentioned how much better Jalen's defense got at the end of the year. It was nice for him to show the coaching staff and the fans that skill set is there and is available. If he can defend like that consistently he will surely be A LOT more useful. Even if he stays inconsistent on offense.

Go look at Kobe’s career 3pt %…it’s 32.9%. Kobe offset those defenses by having a midrange game. That’s what Ben hinted at in this episode. Once JG gets comfortable with the floater and/or taking the middy he’ll be fine.

@@Dirty_deuce1906 Good call, for Jalen to take the next step he really has to knock down those middies. With his physical attributes and how fast he is, that middy is always there, he can create it at will. Can he develop it? I'd bet against it but I am hopeful.

Now let’s talk about 2024 NBA draft.The Rockets should select Tidjane salaun with their 9th pick in this 2024 draft. I would be mad if they don’t draft him. The guy is 6’9 with Very high ceiling,can dribble, pass,defend,attack the rim and finish and he’s a very good shooter. He’s gonna be a unicorn

Literally everything was better throughout the whole season aside from the ball falling in the hoop. Watching the games early on you'd see a ton of unlucky in and outs. But that was always coupled with great passes, reads, and hustle. I am please with Jalen, especially considering he's in a new system. Sengun simply spoiled all of us.

You can only give him an incomplete. Even with a horrible environment in his first few years - a good player will find a way to be good. I don't think Jalen is an "alpha", he's a secondary piece. If in year 4 there is a better player out there for the same money - you let him walk.

expectations aside, I feel like he needs 2+ years to reach a minimal consistency. he needs improve his handling, vision and shooting by just playing, he needs a bag fit for his body type and nba. and that will take time. only after that, we can say he is a dependable player and he may raise to be a superstar even. its possible but also yet far. but his attitude to adjust looks promising, I hope for the good.

In April, when Jalen finally had to face real teams (not bottom 5 or injury ridden rosters) and the play-in hopes were still alive, he just turned it down and held his body out of harm's way? Very interesting, laughable take.
@bendubose
@bendubose Ай бұрын
The comment about keeping his body out of harm's way was immediately preceded by "ON THAT FINAL THREE-GAME ROAD TRIP." If you're going to criticize, at least do it based on what was actually said, as opposed to a strawman.
@EliPomovyev
@EliPomovyev Ай бұрын
I will now sit through the whole episode so I may catch that alleged line. Sadly I will have to re-listen to some other takes like: "Second half of the season was an A..." His "other half" was literally a month of good play against the worst or incomplete rosters of the NBA as stated before. And then he deflated immediately. Salt Lake City Stars and Motor City Go-Go in March, Mavs and Clippers in April.
@bendubose
@bendubose Ай бұрын
Alleged? Lol, it's right there, and I'm literally the one who said it. I would know. You're absolutely free to disagree, just drop the namecalling and strawman arguments. We should be able to have a reasonable discussion without insults.

39:43 DuBose:"You had the incredible month of March, when he nearly won West[ern] Player of the Month, and you had a lethargic April, although I think some of that, you know, as I mentioned, was just him not wanting to throw his body in harms way at the end of the season." - Gatlin:"I think you hand-wave that one." Where is the LAST THREE GAMES line?
@bendubose
@bendubose Ай бұрын
26:13 "When he is reluctant to attack, he ends up devolving into a step-back 3-point guy. ... When he struggled in that final 3-game road trip, I think it was for a very different reason. The teams the Rockets were playing against, whatever was left of the Jazz, Blazers, and Clippers, they certainly didn't have a player like Gobert or Wemby. But, I think because it's the end of a season and nobody is trying to get hurt, Jalen didn't want to attack the rim the way he normally does. He didn't want to risk injury. We saw Moses Brown fall onto his leg, as well, and that played into it." What do you think "as I mentioned" means? It's referencing those earlier comments. What do you think "SOME of that" means? Hint: It's referencing a portion of April, i.e. the final 3-game road trip, not the entirety of April.

March basketball in the NBA is a complete joke (injuries, playoff preparation, tanking etc). Jalen's superhot stretches all three seasons fell into March! Coincidence? And then Dubious Ben DuBose tries to interpolate his March stats with his half year stats. I want to see Jalen's stats against the Top 20 teams of the NBA, please. I personally wish Jalen well. Put in the work in the off-season and mute the haters forever. But it is what it is.

The definition of interpolate is "insert into something else." The second half of an NBA season inherently includes March, so it is absolutely not "something else."
