Phillip Scott responds to a Jamaican Sista stating that Black Americans are causing prices to go up in African nations. She also said we come with privilege and want to change society. Last time I checked, Black Americans don't own the beaches in Jamaica, preventing the locals from accessing their own beaches.

As a black American thank you for the words. She is trying to personify us as white colonizers which is dangerous territory. She has to remember that we as black American as well as the diaspora were asked to return “home” to a continent that we have never lived on. Does she know how much pandering African leaders do to black Americans? Her words are more dividing than anything.

🤔 our Jamaican sister is just like some of our African sisters and brothers who complain about us coming to the continent. yet never complain about the true colonizers who are the Asians in both Jamaica and on the African continent. This is largely due to the envy and jealousy of their own African-American brothers and sisters. and their fear of the Asians to really confront them. 🤔

That's a joke. The least patriotic group in America is Black Americans. They're also ironically at least grateful group in America. Imagine any other group grifting on the idea that they get killed at a disproportionate rate (which Roland Fryer approved is objectively untrue), raising 11 billion dollars from that victimhood, and the community growing 0% from it. There will be a reckoning for the lies we've been willing to tell.

I'm from the Caribbean and I worked in the tourist industry for many years. Now, what this lady is saying about Black people moving to other countries and colonizing the citizens of those countries is not true. However, the white people are doing that. Some of them purchase beach- front properties and prevent locals from walking or bathing on those beaches. They also bully the local people in their communities when it comes to various issues. So, I would say she is partially right, but this is not so with black Americans as far as I know. Thanks!

Panafricanism is a pipe dream. Why are we the only race that holds ourselves to such an unrealistic standard? We may as well just remain delineated. Past black leaders wasted their time only for all this division and xenophobia being thrown around by different groups of black people. We were never united, but now, in 2024, it's at an all-time high with social media in the mix. Black people should look at black people as any other individual and not as one utopian brotherhood/sisterhood.

@jermanLuga 🤣🤣🤣 We allow international investors to invest in our country because it boosts the economy. These deals are negotiated with the sellers of the land or the government of Jamaica. People don't come to Jamaica and stick a flag in the ground and claim the land as theirs. These beachfront properties that are bought become private property. This happens in America too. Public beaches are still all over Jamaica, they just happen to not be in areas designated for tourism. That part is usually omitted. We have a thriving fishing industry. If we didn't have public beaches where do you think the fishermen sail from? BTW my family has owned land and beachfront property for generations. The government can't sell it and we will not be selling it to outside investors. The community may or may not know who owns the land because they are free to come and go as they please.

That is true, but it's not just Jamaica. It is every black people group with their own country; all African countries. Moving to Africa is not the solution for us. A lot of Jamaican history, like a lot of U.S. history, is manipulated and hidden. There are different groups of Jamaicans of different origins, just as there are different and sometimes opposed groups of 'black' Americans who no longer speak as one group because of differences in origin and identity. The historical secrets that cause this are going to be forced out into the open soon.

Is there any hope for 'black' unity at this point? The OP made an effort to affirm 'black' Americans' right to return to Africa as descendants, whether distant or recent. What happens next? 'Black' Americans start arguing about not being African and being 'their own kind'. Yet, there are 'black' Americans that still call themselves 'African Americans'. Make it make sense. Do 'black' people realize how crazy, divided, confused and lost we are to constantly destroy every opportunity to find some common ground? Can there be a positive future for people who insist on behaving this way?
