The Bond Experience

Күн бұрын

In order to understand the lasting impact of the James Bond franchise, one needs to first realize what 007's most powerful weapon is. In this video I breakdown what that weapon is and WHY it surrounds us, penetrates us, and binds our fandom together!

When David is not running an advertising and marketing company, his hobby is The Bond Experience which is primarily a video blog where he discusses Bond experiences and the people and brands that help to create those experiences...
The mantra of living like Bond, one moment at a time emanates from a concept of experiencing the joy of collecting small moments in life that add up to amazing journeys and stories....whether it's through style, locations, literature, fitness, and the movies themselves the world of Bond is explored through its people and their stories.
Ultimately though, The Bond Experience channel is a celebration of the James Bond franchise and the many people that form a true community. Our core mission is to create a strong connection in the Bond community amongst all the fans, regardless of interest or demographic.

I totally agree that collecting something, even a T-shirt, connects us to the film, or show. And in my case, going back and looking for older items, or making your own even, is RE-connecting with an old friend.

Ha! This video is magnificent. Talking about running around the woods with your toy blaster made my eyes glisten, because I remember those days as well. And you're definitely right about the power of nostalgia. I had tears in my eyes in NTTD the first time they played the All The Time In The World sting. Took me back to being a teenager and watching the movie for the first time and choosing Bond to guide so many aspects of my life.

I'm currently watching on TV re runs of the Six Million Dollar Man (SMDM). I missed it originally because I was too young to really understand it. However I do recall the toy line. Fun fact. While watching recently,in one episode set at Christmas Steve Austin goes into a Toy Shop. And on the shelf behind him is a SMDM action figure. Product placement was very real in the 70's. 🍸

This video, in particular Han Solo’s DL44 blaster, is REALLY nostalgic for me! I had the exact same one which I carried in a holster rig made by my mother who was a hell of seamstress with brown vinyl my dad bought at a local upholstery shop. She took it a step further and made me the vest from ANH! Battled stormtroopers all over the neighborhood…a 70s childhood was THE BEST! I would be as excited to see this collection (maybe even more so than your Bond one) some day. I had many of the items you have displayed and would give almost anything to have them back. Great video as usual!

Great video David, I love your passion and enthusiasm (and you’re obviously a bit crazy)😂 I think nostalgia is like a comfort blanket. Just like watching your favourite movie over and over, it makes us feel good. I also have so many of my old toys from the 70s I know exactly where you are coming from. Keep up the good work my friend and I look forward to your next video 😀👍

Dentist drill demonstration seemed to be channeling Pee Wee Herman. I sometimes think the "collecting gene" is not carried by everyone. if you start collecting it will continue. I remember starting with collecting toy pistols, then building airplane models, when I discovered comic books i was definitely hooked. That idea of collecting continues to this day.

Terrific video - and right on the money with all of your points! Nostalgia makes EVERYTHING better - and it is probably THE most important appeal of James Bond to most of us,I bet. Which is why we almost always prefer the older movies over many of the more recent ones. Because that’s the one element that the newer movies can NEVER duplicate for us,no matter how good they may be. And wow - What a great collection of Toys and memorabilia!! *Great Star Wars stuff- a reminder of when it was at its classic best * Steve Austin! *Evel Knievel!! * The great 007 Sideshow figures! *And that fantastic Han Solo Blaster!! I wonder if they even sell that in stores today - Probably not! Great stuff. You should really think about opening your basement collection to the public and start charging admission!! People WOULD come!😎

when I was a kid, I bugged my mom to death for a Gilligan's Island T-shirt, they advertised them after the show was on, she gave in and a week later, I got it, it had his picture on it and a banana, the banana was scented, like a banana, funny how we remember things like that, I grew up in a good time, after school, I rushed home, to watch tv shows like Gomer Pyle USMC, Gilligan's Island and after that was old movies, Godzilla, Frankenstein meets the Wolfman, I think the television show was called, The Big Show, that showed those old movies, I enjoyed growing up in the early 70's!

For what it's worth, and I can't attest to the accuracy of this, I believe the word nostalgia is rooted in the Greek language. Returning to somewhere familiar triggering an actual sense of pain. I guess it's a yearning to be back in those times of innocence and happiness.

the new generation, the zoomer generation could be the end for the franchise in the next decade.they basicallly don't care unlike the previous generation born in the 80s and early 90s.

Respectfully sir, I have to disagree. I’m 19 and a die hard Bond fan, and have gotten almost all of my friends into the franchise. I think it will take us “spreading the word” as it were of this amazing franchise and our community to get more of my generation into it

T-shirts is a very effective way of getting people to talk with you about a certain brand/movie/TV-show, if there is a love for it to begin with. Sure as hell merketing excecutives have researched this! My closet is full of these kinds of T-shirts.

The new virtual Computer Synthesizers may be more capable. But for me, they never compared to the magic invoked by my old Atari 1040 ST triggering my Keyboard and Drumcomputer. My personal history is full of these moments and there is a reason why my wife and friends are wearing Smartwatches while I am using my Omega Moonwatch. It cannot connect to WiFi and I have to wind it up. It only tells Time and Speed, when you know how to use it. And I want nothing more. I want the exact caliber of 1969. 👍🏻😎🚀

Correction. The most dangerous weapon Bond ever had was his way to manipulate his antagonist into keeping him alive, when Bond was all but dead. Then he would find away to get the last laugh on his adversary. Of course I'm being deliberately ignorant 😅
