James Cagney was a true professional actor and Singer. Could could do anything singing dancing playing a heavy as a gangster or simple father business man all done to perfection! Not a actor or stage performer could even comes close to what Mr Cagney had done never will be ever again RIP SIR!

I am 43 but we grew up watching old movies like Abbott and Costello, Jerry Lewis, and Dean Martin, etc. My dad always love this movie.

When he stomps on the hair piece and says "got it" while pointing, never fails to make me laugh...so many great moments in this movie.

One of my favorite movies growing up as a kid back in the 50s/60s. Watched it every 4th of July and sang along with what I could!

There's such a witty and poignant, innocent aura to these scenes. Absolute Americana in its finest!!!! James Cagney was a tour de force in whatever role he played!!!

I watch this movie every year!! Cagney was one of the GREATEST ACTORS EVER. If you have a chance watch The Man of a Thousand Faces, James Cagney played Lon Chaney, Sr.

This had to be the best movie ever, greatest actor ever, the best cast , and if it wasn't for the invention of that b&w movie camera this masterpiece would have been done on a live stage with no long lasting record of this oscar winning performance. thank you mr. Edison and Dixon....

Yes, this film is amazing. It's such a touching story, and with great musical numbers. Songs "I'm a Yankee doodle dandy" and "You're a grand old flag" are both songs that any American knows who hasn't spent their life under a rock, and we get to really see the details of their origin in this film from the old proud and dignified days of America. This film is great in many ways. Cagney had a knack for musicals too, he's great in "Footlight parade" also, with Joan Blondell and the wonderful Ruby Keeler. They really don't make em like they used to. So many greats from the old days: Cagney, Bogart, Jean Harlow, Greta Garbo, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, Gene Kelly, Judy Garland, Esther Williams, Sinatra, Laurel and Hardy, Marx brothers, and still many more

CAGNEY EQUALS LEGEND ALL TIME GREAT! My all time favorite! They don't have legends like Mr.Cagney anymore! Yankee doodle dandy is my favorite Cageney film. I love watching him dance!
