This must have been such a surreal time for James, having to do these interviews regardless of the shitstorm brewing back in London/Wales. It was a really good interview, too. Love him to bits!

Early February 1995. Just after Richey’s disappearance...I can’t even imagine what was going on in his mind at that period. Anyway, what an amazing guy.

I like how the interviewer seems delighted and relieved to be interviewing an intelligent and thoughtful pop star for a change.

I think it's early February 95 in the US. If he says that at that moment he was 25, the dissappearance took place the 1st of February and they had planned the flight for that day, it means that it is early February. James actually took the flight to the US and, as the manager told, he kept ringing to know if Richey came back so he could take the next flight to the US. In this interview James still believes Richey is in the band, he and everyone thought he was just gone for some time for himself and he would appear later on.

some people think it was actually richey who got on that flight and not james. i however, do not.

it's wild listening to this knowing he was the same age i am now, and already had dealt with so much in life. such a humble, brilliant and gentle soul

Great interview, some wonderful questions to make James feel relaxed and engaged. Really good, wish I knew he was

Great interview, it does seem to have been around early 1995 judging by some of the references to the 1994 World Cup and when James' birthday is.

The interviewer's response to James saying Nicky is a buzz in bed makes me laugh!

Interesting to hear the Mick Jagger remark 30 years hence, now that JDB is older than Mick was then. Time, it flexes like a whore etc ...

Very odd as James is talking about HB and just being released. Mentions Richey is still in the band. HB released 30/8/94. It's a if it's in feb 95 and JDB went to the US even with Richey missing?? which I wasn't aware of.
@silasmarner78949 жыл бұрын
Would this be from 95? Seems to be no mention of richey leaving. Im guessing this would be 93 or 94.
@Keeleysound7 жыл бұрын
It was recorded in Feb 1995, on the US promo tour that Richey was supposed to accompany James on. So Richey had already disappeared when this was recorded but his disappearance hadn't been made public at this point, hence why James doesn't mention it
@melissawright19797 жыл бұрын
silas marner Are you sure he went to America whilst Richey was missing? Richey disappeared on the morning they were suppose to leave for the airport! Unless it is so early into his disappearance that James thought Richey would return. . ?
@Keeleysound7 жыл бұрын
That's exactly what happened Melissa. James went ahead with the trip as arranged and reportedly phoned home every few hours to check if Richey had been found

My god. The Bay City Rollers was my first memory of music too. Not a very good one. They had a TV show in the UK called Shangalang and every time it came on i was scared shitless and used to run out of the living room in hysterics. I was only 2.

Well in this interview, James says he's 25. His birthday is 21/2/69. So this interview will more than likely be 1994. January 95 he wasn't in the US. February 95 he was dealing with richey's disappearance.

Is this Howard stern interviewing or who ? Sounds like him
@stewmott37635 ай бұрын
I thought it might be David Fricke? Pretty sure Howard Stern doesn't have the same birthday as Billie Holiday so that would rule him out. Does sound a bit like him, though - just slower and not interrupting as much! 🙂

Oh James. You know nothing about betting on horses until you've been to the Kentucky Derby. I live and Louisville and wowee does it get crazy during derby time.
