Born in 1931, actor James Dean is remembered for his incredible portrayals of teen angst and social rebellion. His legend is all the more incredible considering he only made three films in just one year, East of Eden, Giant, and Rebel Without a Cause, in 1955. Each of them is on the American Film Institute’s list of 400 Best American Films of All Time. On top of this, he was nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award in two of the films and only lived to see one of them released. Though his fame was tragically short lived, James Dean left an indelible mark on both Hollywood and car enthusiasts the world over. In the span of barely two years, he would rack up serious film accolades alongside a striking record of racing and vehicle purchases, right up there with the likes of Elvis Presley. Never again will a celebrity be so closely connected to classic cars and motorcycles. James Dean's cars are truly the stuff of legend.

Two corrections: He played Cal Trask in East of Eden, not Carl. His 550 Spyder was a 1955 model, not a '50 model.

The History ….. James Deans good friend and mentor Bill Hickman ( Charger driver in the movie Bullitt ) also starred in the French Connection. Sadly James Dean died in his arms after the accident . As he was following . James Dean ‘s Porsche .

The 550 Porsche Spyder today is worth a few million today especially that only a few exist today a very rare Porsche Spyder today very sought after porsche if James dean never died in the 550 Spyder Jimmy's Porsche today would have been worth a considerably lot more than what he paid in 1955

Rebel Without a Cause was a gay protest movie and no one even knows it. My best friend Adam did a report in high school on it got an A. My mom who lived through the time and graduated in 1965 couldn't understand why everyone was interested in the little gay guy. But even to this day people will argue with me just for this text it's a fact. I think the really funny part is I'm not homophobic or anything I have lesbian and gay friends🎉.
