Can I just say how fitting they included The Lion King clip in this tribute? Such an incredible film, and even more importantly, so deserved to be there among James Earl Jones' roles. Long live the King, indeed!

He must have been so overwhelmed by all the love and tributes to him at this ceremony in Washington d.c James earl Jones is a great actor of his generation and he looks amazing at the age of 90 years old, if the Kennedy center did a tribute to my idol Judy Garland i would love to be apart of that tribute ceremony. Why is he reading from cue cards? 🤦🏼♀️He’s one of our greatest actors! He’s delivered longer monologues than this and managed to memorize those. (Reference: Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner)

Perhaps because he wanted the speech to be pristine. Because… it was live. He was like, 74! And, it wasn’t a film…. There were no edits. And, he wanted to make sure he honored his dear friend perfectly. Flawlessly.
