It amazes me that the adult consenting women in these cases are referred to as "survivors", thats an insult to true survivors of trauma. What Franco did wasn't right and its right that his acting school got closed down but the way its been handled in the media is so ridiculous, but that seems to be the way things are now.

You see he’s being genuine. I give him credit for actually being vulnerable and admitting that what he did was not okay. Him taking a deep breath before answering really shows you he’s doing the hard part of being brutally honest even though it sucks to say out loud what you did was wrong. He’s taking the steps to be accountable,.. it’s not just about his career anymore and he knows that. Seems he’s actually trying to become a better person and that is hard to do, but explains the big sighs

The way I view this is that there’s always two sides of a story. These adult women admitted they were in relationships and or had a crush on James and also consented to engage in these acts. They could have said no but they feared for their careers so they needed to ‘bring him down’ or they go down. James is not Ted Bundy and these women seem like a group of narcissists. Let the man be and stop bullying and destroying others’ lives.

Its amazes me how the public wants to throw stones and needs him to be held accountable but the women who made poor decisions to be around him or sleep with him in a consensual situation are not accountable either. Accountability is a two way street. We aren't talking about rape here. People have freewill to make their own decisions and every decision we make as individuals comes with consequences. He had sexual relations with adults who consensually made a decision to go down this road. He didn't roofie these women. They made the choice to tango but yet we only want his head on a plater. At some point everyone in a consensual situation has to be accountable not just the man. Again we aren't talking about rape.

I’m unsure as to what he did wrong?! He slept with students on a consensual basis, not rape. For the women to feel bitter and wronged after isn’t something we should blame the guy for. Nope. They don’t have to be abstinent. There are plenty of women out there that you shouldn’t be sleeping with students when you’re James Franco. Exactly man I find the power imbalance argument rather absurd. I can understand it’s application with minor-adult sexual relations, but if he did not wield his power to coerce and/or harass these consenting adult women, I don’t understand the outrage. I respect him for coming forward and doing the right thing now. If he’s not going to jail for anything, he deserves to act again. He deserves to be able to work. I mean, to this day, we have sex offenders working everywhere you name it. It’s not like he’s going to work at McDonald’s. The guy put his whole life into acting and made a success out of himself. You're making this simply on sex - women against men and it being solely consensual. Assuming it was consensual, there's def more to play here. There is a power dynamic, one. There can be a level of coercion if he made it seem they would benefit from it. We don't know if there were promises made inferred or outright. But add the fact they were 18 I think? That's effed up! What people do in there own time is their own business. As long as it's not illegal it's really not worth talking about. First off, 17 is the age of consent in New York, where Franco is based, secondly, when he discovered she was 17, he backed off. I dont think adults with consent sleeping with each other is the issue , I think maybe the methods of how he went about it might be the girls issues. Again I think there's a few layers of the onion that would need to get peeled back here. I think industries from film and music also allow females who are too young to be put in these situations by older mature men. Even as a male how were you when 18 to 22 ? Your mentality is not of an adult yet in regards to making good decisions for yourself. Maybe society should raise the age requirements and not throw youth into the flames without parental supervision.

Why would he teach a class to get a "stream of young women" when he already has it at his fingertips? I can see if it's for a swap for a good grade or even worse if the teacher is holding a good grade of over your head if you don't, but he's right, it's consensual in this instance. I know a few professors who have had relationships with their adult students, two of them married their former student and are happy with kids.

But they definitely showed interest in him, and they knew what they did as they did it and at the end of the day were consenting adults who should take responsibility for their actions.
