@@crummy.So we know for sure they sped it up, and from 185-220 BPM? where does this even come from? I never seen any interiew or anything about them speeding up that much, the only source I have seen is just random people online…

@@JohnnyRockG search up Daniel Sarkissian Flemming Rasmussen interview skip to 1:55 he talks about using tape varispeed to speed up a downtuned track to make them sound even tighter.

​@@JohnnyRockG also when you try to use the same guitar amp as James Hetfield and use Flemming Rasmussen Notes for the Mesa Mark IIC+ amp for MOP it says to use the battery notes amp settings which sounds correct for the song battery but MOP still doesn't sound right. But people have tested it themselves by downtuning their guitars to I think eb standard quad tracking a part from MOP and then sped it back up to e standard tuning using a digital tape machine plugin and it sounded way closer to MOP. It adds that's grittyness to the tone. You can really tell if you listen to isolated guitar track of battery vs MOP

For them and other acts like them, napster threatened to to delete their primary source of income in record sales, and I challenge anyone to react differently when confronted with that. Tell any thrash band that you're going to stop them from getting paid and see what you get! It has transpired that streaming services have replaced record sales almost entirely now. Given how impossibly poorly artists are paid by streaming services today, while at the time it seemed like a real d*ck move from Lars (and he didn't handle it at all well) , in hindsight he may have had a good point! It was a painful transition for established artists going from physical to digital and it has completely changed the way music consumption works and what it means to be a fan of an act, and furthermore how fans compensate their favourite artists for the music they make. Metallica really suffered for being the biggest act in the world at the time of that evolution. We'll never see their like again!
