I'm Australian, (working class) and as a child my older brother and I would make honestly quite tasty 'spamburgers' when we were allowed control of the kitchen. Bread slices, nicely fried Spam slices, lettuce, cheese, tinned beetroot.. trust me they were nice. I think the mention of class is important, as most working class families actually didn't have time to head down to the friendly butcher for the nicest cut of meat, they had to make do with what was in the pantry from that week's shopping run.

@Dennis Moore Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore, riding through the land / Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore, something his right hand / Takes from the rich and gives to the poor / Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore. And then something about a carriage being stopped because it was rumored that the riders inside it were smuggling lupins. (It's been a very long time since I've heard or watched the skit. This was the best I could recall of the song and the skit it was in.)
@philipclayberg4928
@philipclayberg4928 3 жыл бұрын
@Dennis Moore Indeed. I think I saw the skit in re-runs in the 1970s (I was born in 1967; too late to see MP when it was originally on TV) as well as from LPs that my oldest brother owned ("Matching Tie and Handkerchief" and others). When the boxed set of MP on CD came out, I bought it and it was worth every cent. It included the soundtrack to "Holy Grail". While it isn't the whole movie, the soundtrack is still fun to listen to.

Lovely. Here in the predominantly pork-free supermarkets (Malaysia is mostly Muslim) where Spam is hard to come by, we make do with a variation of Chinese or Vietnamese imported canned luncheon meat with local brands of baked beans. There are also some small Korean provision stores which bring in something similar to SPAM and that could be an option as well. Great segment as usual and I have to concur with some of the chaps below that yes, May tricks Racheal into making his lunch (again). Looking forward to the next one then.
