I love james.twelve tribes of judah scattered among the nations. Count it all joy, my brothers whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your FAITH develops perseverance. For where you have envy, and selfishambition, there you find disorder and every evil work. wisdom from heaven is first PURE, then peace loving. Peace makers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness

Hm, the 12 tribes would include Judah & its absorbed brethren, Benjamin, no? At any rate, this is a very practical epistle, much like the book of Proverbs (not originally my observation).

ha! keep stopping/going back to catch what I'm missing. Every 3 sec...b/c BAM! another pearl of wisdom...when I realize I'm THINKING instead of HEARING..BAM! & stop/go back. So amazing, how ALIVE it is.

When I listen to the bible I put its play speed on 0.75 so I can catch things better!

James is my fav book of the Bible. but i wish the official 'professional' reciting would even recite the text accurately. Accuracy is important. Thankfully, the true Hebrew & Greek Scriptures were thrown out when they missed one word in the copy. It was important to me to memorize the whole book word for word. And i cringe when i hear missing words.

Well, for one he says "So the rich man will also fade away in his pursuits." It's "So the rich man also will fade away in his pursuits." It's extremely important for me to memorize the whole books word for word, too.

I followed along in my NKJV Bible & he reads it word for word, I don’t see anything missing or misplaced.

@@OnTheThirdDay, In chapter 1, verses 21 and 24, the audio misses the word 'and'. In James 2:3, the audio skips the words 'and' and 'sit'. In James 4:13, the audio skips the word 'a'. There are also several places where the stress or lack of stress is a bit disturbing to me. It seems to me that this voice is a computer generated voice with varying random inflections with a degree of intelligence as to which words to stress and ease away from stress. But several places where it eases up on stress when those words should be the stressed words.

Tristy, James is telling us how to know our faith is real. Good works should spring from a heart of love & faith, not faith through works. That doesn't even make sense. Catholicism is works-based, to be sure, but not James nor almost every Protestant-Anabaptist congregation of which I'm familiar. Works are a witness, not a get-out-of-jail card.
