Have always thought Robert Patrick was a fresh new chapter to the X-Files. Tough, stoic, driven and heroic. Plus incredibly easy on the eyes.

I always thought Robert was very handsome as a young man. And I don't think he looks terrible now considering that he's in his mid-60s, but Robert would have aged better than he did if only he took better care of himself.

Oh, how I love John Doggett! Always stoic, noble and correct. Robert Patrick played him perfectly. A delightful actor. Together with Gillian they did a wonderful job. I loved how the tone of the show became darker in S8, it was like going back to basics. A favorite without a doubt, right there with seasons 3, 4 and 5. 🙌

I watched the X Files from the get-go and I still don’t get why people didn’t like when David Duchovny left; Robert Patrick was a breath of fresh air on a show that was getting quite stale. Great to see this video!
@JmelBst4 жыл бұрын
David''s arc was wrapped up when the truth was revealed in that 2000 episode about his sister. A few more after that & frankly there wasn't much more to do with the character. Chris Carter should've left after S7 & let someone else give it a chance. We know that for sure by how S11 turned out. S10 was good to me though.

In the seasons 8 and 9, I liked more the new agent Doggett than the crying scully and the invisible Mulder. Very respectful and respected, very serious, he never gave up on every truth. When he said that he is not Mulder, that was fantastic. What a charismatic character! It's a big shame to ignore that character who saved 2 seasons of this tv show and no one of the team think about that for the 2 new seasons 10 and 11. Even Robert Patrick was sure that they will call him for the season 10. His character deserved a better ending and a better treatment.
@yu2000yu3 ай бұрын
When he said he’s no Mulder, I think it’s also his inferior complex playing, because he knew how much Scully loved Mulder. Kobold (the high IQ psychopath ) was playing with Doggett’s head about that. I felt so bad, because in so many aspects, he’s a much preferable partner and lover than Mulder.
@yu2000yu3 ай бұрын
I also hope he’s some kind of director in law enforcement. I hope his experience in the X Files didn’t drag him down career wise, but provided him a career boost because he sees things from different aspects. He has lost so much: comrades in Lebanon, a son in a brutal way, a wife, the promotion opportunity in his career, Scully the light of hope he saw. The only one left is Reyes who reminds him constantly how she had helped search for his son and how she stabbed him in the back by investigating with Mulder on his son’s case so that she could work her way to DC (she was working for CSM makes so much sense). I hope the writers can give him mercy if they are going to write more on him (definitely not the sad condition Spender has). He deserves better.

Everything written after Scary Monster is for closing, but even so, his sudden possibility romantic interest on Reyes after he came back from a coma (as well as an amnesia) was super forced. He loved Scully’s intelligence, bravery, and resilience, among other things, but Reyes has none of those. Reyes has to constantly remind Doggett how much she did for him, but Scully just covered him time to time at work without announcing what she did. FBI is not a matching agency, male and female partners at work don’t have to always translate to a romantic relationship.

Gawd, I shipped Doggett/Scully so bad. His chemistry with Reyes was virtually non-existent, but with Scully, there was definitely something there. Not to mention, he was such a breath of fresh air from Mulder, whose mistreatment of Scully was at times, nauseating. At least John Doggett treated her with respect.

@@Elly3981 - Yes ma’am. Robert Patrick admitted to playing the character as such. Originally, it was intended for there to be a romantic connection between these two, but with Gillian Anderson blindsiding Chris Carter with news that she wanted out after S8, well, that put an end to Doggett/Scully.

Even in earlier episodes in Season 9, we could see that Doggett couldn’t stand Reyes from time to time. Not just her batshit crazy theories that she formed because of “her feelings “, but also her no respect for social boundaries (like calling Scully who has a few month old baby at home at 2am to do an autopsy on a guy who had been dead for 5 days in Hellbound. Let alone she investigated his son’s murder case with Mulder on his back, and many more). After an amnesia experience in Mexico and a coma after running over by a car (but probably mainly due to GA wanted to quit), he’s possibly romantically interested in her 😵💫. Please.

I absolutely love Doggett's puppy eyes that he gives to Scully (ex. 0:35), he's so damn cute. He's one of the most respected agents of the FBI, known for his hard work and for serve in the US marine corps and NY police department, and he can make *A GODDAMN PUPPY LOOK OMG* 🤧❤️I don't ship Doggett and Scully bc I believe that he feels more admiration and a sense of "must protect" for Scully and if it doesn't sounds like a guard dog to you, idk what would.

Well, at this point, Robert's eyelids were starting to droop from age so it may look like puppy dog eyes. I don't know how old he was when he played John Dogget in the X-Files but Robert looked to be in his mid-forties or so. I could be wrong, he might have been younger but because he was a heavy smoker and drinker in real life, Robert did not age very well.

I was enjoying the chemistry between Mulder and Scully. It took Doggett’s character to show up, then I realized how problematic Mulder is: constantly ditching Scully, calling her at odd time on non important stuff, ordering her to do autopsies at hours that he feels like, never defending Scully from sexist law enforcement, etc.
