This 1985 Grumman-Olson Kubvan (prototype USPS Mail-Truck) was parked in a shed for twenty years until I rescued it a few months back. The seller told me it needed an engine as the one it had was locked solid with 'little-to-no chance of running again'... he wasn't joking. In this video, I finish the TDI engine swap enough to finally drive the van.

awesome to see the progress bro but PLEASE get some proper welding gloves and either a respirator or some better ventilation when you weld. Was a welder for 6 years, better safe than sorry brother.

I'd assume it was part of an ECU tune. Malone and Kerma are both very popular for those 1.9TDI's.

It's actually an un-tuned 1999 ECU. If I'm not mistaken, MK4's didn't have an immobilizer until 2000.

HAH, I'm not the biggest fan of TDI swaps in regular MK1 rabbits but I think it fits this thing really well. It makes sense with the government-issued, purpose-built vibe

I’m actually working on a MK6 TDI ‘buyer’s guide’ right now. There are quite a few things to look out for, namely, its service history. That’ll dictate what you should do when you get the car!

I just didn't love my auto trans options... the 01M isn't very savory lol. I tossed around a common rail and DSG but that's basically the only auto I'd go for

@@patrickhueber3798 no overdrive & the 010 trans puts the starter on the back of the block under the turbo. Plus, I wanted to be able to drive this on the interstate
