From watching this video and employing the counter grip pressure. I was able to drop my score around slaley hall. From low thirties to 14 over. The difference was incredible. Setting the club early in this manner. It has changed my game.

@@acemakerjay Yeah but I mean, the coach wasnt bad at all except when he went into mathematics haha. Overall it was a great teaching even though he had a strong character.

@@SL0409 you need to be a low handicap - almost scratch player to understand these lessons.

well honestly, not to "undertstand" them. A high handicap player can actually understand the meaning, but he wont be able to put it into action. the mechanic of swing must be very clear already. The difference here is simple: most players, not low handicap, dont hit the ball by putting pressure on it from above. Most players think they have to "push" the ball ahead. That's wrong. Once you start realizing the real meaning of "putting pressure" on it, and start creating different impacts and divots, you can understand the real meaning of this lesson.

I love Pete Cowan's instruction...he really knows...so expect mucho improvement...:)

Too much talking & not enough hands on instruction.

This instruction has single handedly changed my golf game. For a beginner whos constantly watching videos, listening to Peter Cowen and not just hearing his words is fundamentally on a different level.

Couldn't agree more. Outstanding video! If you got nothing out of that then you should take up another game like darts or archery.

@@richardholgate7849 Is that what you heard? I don't think locking anything in the golf swing is good. Applying equal but opposite force with the hands still allows everything to release normally.

I definitely feel dumber after watching this video. 🤣 but in as good a way possible! Watching him swing a golf club looked painful before this. Now it looks more fluid but not fluent yet but definitely much better.

I did not get the grip thing "opposing fingers" . I she saying 'one hand weak and the other strong ?

@@MrCatsailor My best answer as this worked for me, is to focus on the “squeezing the towel” example. In relation to the grip, you’re not necessarily ringing out water from a towel because the grip pressure would be too tight. However, that same opposing motion in the hands done lightly is what keeps the club face square and it feels like the hands are connected throughout the swing. The “aha” moment for me was noticing that in my backswing, my hands were rolling in the same direction which resulted in the club face being wide open. At that point, everything else becomes hand eye coordination and the club can’t do what it’s intended to do. As I’m far from the expert here and just letting you know how it clicked for me, just pretend you didn’t read this if it doesn’t resonate with you as we all grasp things differently 😉

Yet, by James own admission, he got worse after this lesson, not better. How is that good instruction if it makes an already good golfer worse?

I'm pretty dumb I guess. To play a fade you need to position the shoulder higher and for a draw lower. I'm lost!

I’m a cat 1 golfer and am clued up about the swing I can agree with you on this. Pete knows his stuff but his way of getting his point across is very poor

You won't find many people admitting they don't understand someone who's referred to as the world's BEST instructor. You don't want to be the member of the cult saying your leader might be wrong. His analogies and choice of words make it harder than it needs to be. I've watched multiple videos with him and he does a great job of subtly condescending anyone who offers a different way of thinking or choice of words.

I think this is just his personality. He'd be great military man. No nonsense. No BS.

i tried this the same day and babby draws and fades on demand very much improved. i think that the opposing grip force very important for face control. maybe honeymoon period but , i hope not.

If I understood him, think of the club grip as the towel. Twist the fingers of each hand inwards against the twist of the other hand. This wrings the handle, increases control of the clubhead and locks the shoulders in. The whole lot together creates more consistent striking.

You cannot miss when you swing with your hands opposing and you strike the ball, it's uncanny!

Think of a “Chinese Burn”. As you’re looking down, twist your left hand clockwise and your right hand anti-clockwise. Not excessively. Just enough to feel your grip stronger than before. You’re not looking to strangle the club. Just hold it as normal and then move each hand around 1cm. You’ll feel it when it’s right. You’ll instantly feel your grip strengthening without the need to grip harder. Once you get it, you will have a stronger grip that doesn’t need grip strength or conscious effort.
