James Taylor isn't just a national treasure, he's a treasure to all mankind.

I’ve always enjoy James Taylor as a singer/songwriter; but, I have to say that his story of his father’s efforts to help him through a really difficult time were inspiring. And he obviously appreciates and values those efforts.

James Taylor is such a genuinely lovely man. We’re so lucky to live at the same time in history as him.

When I was young, I was in a place called The Harbor School in Amesbury Massachusetts. I was waiting to see a dentist in a small town, I think it was called Newburyport as a group of under-privileged kids rebuilding what was left of our childhood. I heard acoustic guitar and asked if we could go see it. My adult that was in charge of us at the time said, "That's James Taylor". It stuck with me forever; the sound, the name James Taylor, all of it. It became a source of calm and comfort when I was alone, broken and scared in my life. I have bought every "CD" as a kid young adult and into now my middle years (48). I hope you see this at some point. It was your brother Livingston Taylor. The Residential advisor was wrong. Thank you, James.

James Taylor's kind and gentle soul emanates from his music. It's just what we need in this chaotic world. Thank you, James for comforting us with your beautiful music.

I 1st saw James Taylor back in the 1980's then in the 90's and again in 2001. What amazed me the most was the crowd. Young, old, Black and White all singing along like they where just sitting on a porch with their best friend. That is what a real artist doses.

and it comes down to this, MY DAD CALLED...MY DAD CAME FOR ME...one word: CARE. For those who had a parent that cared, you are BLESSED. Many of us dont! Taylor is SO clear...simple like his music...amazing man of humility and gentleness...a real man!

I was at James's first post 9/11 concert in Portland, OR, and it was the most collective and transcendent experience of my life. So grateful to him for getting on a plane just days after that disaster and going on with the show. We needed that. We needed him.

An absolutely amazing man... I grew up listening to James music back in the 60s and seventies , the world was a lot safer and better back then. Even After all this time he still has the same gentle Spirit, it's just like yesteryears of peaceful people and music.!

I saw him last month at Caesars Palace. I cried so much during his show. There's a feeling you cannot describe in words that comes from being in his presence. He is truly a gift. He's obviously channeling, but the love and compassion that he exudes is really something. On that stage, he's there for that audience, to lift them up and heal them. He is not there for his ego. That's such a rare thing! I've been to many concerts, but none can compare to James Taylor live. At the end of the show he was in the audience taking pictures and signing autographs. He did not have to do that, but that is just who he is. You feel the gratitude he has for his fans, for his gift, and for his life.

What a beautiful story about his dad coming to get him, brought a few tears I must say

This man has brought me great joy in my life. His art is magical.

In the early 90's I saw James Taylor three times walking in the street twice in Soho and once in the upper west side. The last time I said hello James, he waved back smiled and I though, he really made my day.

James Taylor is blessed with an unusual voice that conveys his songs in such an amazing way, with his voice being the ideal vehicle to convey the song's message. If I'm switching from channel to channel on my car radio, even if it's a song I've never heard, within 5 seconds I know I'm hearing James Taylor's voice. I am too a great fan. Back in the days, I was in 3rd grade and living in southern Philippines. In the summer of 1974, My mom , sister and I went on a trip to the big city of manila. then to a7 hour trip to a cool summer capital destination famous for its cool temperature and fresh strawberries Baguio City. My elder brother who lived and worked in the big city of Manila drove us up to on his Ford pickup truck. That was was the beginning the of my love and affinity for James Taylor. My brother had it on an 8 track for all the 7 hours till we got up there and another 7 on the way back. I knew then I was hooked to JT. . That family trip was exploratory and rewarding. For me it was a eye opener- a revelation. I was filled with memories of love, joy and freedom to a 10 yr old it was like "I've gone to Carolina" - in my mind. I remember now, I made a promise to myself that in the future, I will watch a concert of James Taylor in this lifetime. And if that is not possible, when I get to heaven, the first person that I will look for IS James. Yeah It was that deep. So, In 2008 it happened at the Greek Theatre in LA. I did watch his concert.. and I sang along every song he sang.. It was surreal. The next person seated to me asked after the concert.. how did I know all his songs - he can't believe that coming from an Asia. lol. Thank you James. now, my Mom is 91, my brother 66 , and I'm 55 - Your music will always be the fiber that will keep this family singing " Oh..let us turn our thoughts today to Martin Luther King...."

This man, James Taylor has been a musical influence on me for pretty much my entire life. I’m 53 years old, and every time I hear one of his songs, I am taken back to being a younger person, and what was happening when I first heard them. I could listen to him play and speak endlessly.

What a great chronicle of James Taylor's life and music; and thank you Opera for this humanizing view of his life and struggles, and his wonderful music that came from it. My life would not be the same without his music, and I still revel in it, and that it still has that deep emotional effect on me as I go back to the early 70's in my early adult life with it. For James' life's good influences, and other bad times that he has overcome-his music means that much more to me now that this has been published. Good for you James-and thank you for your essential and beautiful music that has come out of your struggles and joys. Your guitar playing, lovely voice, and songwriting is so fundamental and long reaching in todays music, that it certainly should be experienced by any generation that will be open to the beauty of it. Thank you for making my life the richer for it, James. You have done very well in your presentation and artistry and I hope you are blessed with good health to keep making music as long as you are able. Mr.Taylor I have been a solid loving fan since October 12, 1978. That day as it was my first my parents named me after a song and play you home and from then on. Your music has been in my soul since but even you can see in your eyes the music has always been in you to. I would not be here in this world without you. I'm sorry I cried for most of the concerts as I've seen you twice last in Lincoln very close I ran through my Kleenex but I'm disabled and my blood sugar was so low I had to go fix it I returned to find you signing for very people. I was heart broke as I was told not to take my coveted collection of vinyl sweet baby James with me. I never got it signed so if your ever around here again just call out my name and I'll come running to see you again. PEACE LOVE missy

First saw JT on TV in England in 1969 and have been a fan ever since. Through his music James gave me a continuity during the roller coaster ride that was the 20th century. He still uses the same props (a high stool and a guitar) today. That link between Before This World and Jolly Springtime (with Yo-Yo Ma) is so evocative of times gone by that it has become a 'lachrymosa'. He's the greatest!

James Taylor is such an icon and such a talent it is a phenomenal to me. I am approximately his age but can't tell you how great his influence has had on my music life. Unlike Judy Sanders, I am satisfied that whether he passes first or I do, we will shake hands in Heaven. His legacy of music will carry me through however long.

JT has always been my favorite by a long shot. His music helped me through some difficult times, not addiction but just a lot of questioning and uncertainty. I tried to emulate his guitar playing (not very successfully) when I was learning. He stands alone in my opinion. I've seen him in concert 3 times and it's just not enough.

James Taylor has been one of my favorites since the 60s. I've seen him in concert 3 times, the last being just a few years ago. He is a kind and genuine human being and watching this documentary about him was heartwarming and relatable with aspects of my own life. ❤

You may not play a character, but as a photographer, I see the lines of your face exude character. It is as inspirational as your music.
